I am going to the toilet endless times through the day & Night, this has been going on for about 5 years and is getting worse and worse. I have had different types of herbal water balance tablets but they do not help.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Thank you

Just to let you know that for about fifteen years or more I have constantly been going to the toilet day and night (about five-six times during the night) and have had blood tests (NHS) and my doctor says I am not diabetic and nothing wrong. I do not know what to do about it, but thought I would let you know. Sorry I cannot help you.
Thank you for your reply, Sorry you are not getting any help either. I do know that Adrenal Fatigue and Thyroid Issue do cause that but just wondered if anything would ease it while I was sorting out the Adrenals & Thyroid, maybe their isn't. I hope you find an answer, If I do come across anything that will help I will let you know
I stumbled across this book (only been reading it for a few days) and wondered if this may be relevant to you. Leaky gut can be a cause of water retention. I was diagnosed with leaky gut many years ago but never received treatment for it (seems to be another grey area in the medical profession) If untreated can cause Thyroid Issues, Adrenal Issues and all sorts really. Lots of info in the book to get better and about food intolerances. Not sure of your situation so I am sorry if this is no use to you. x
Agree, however, if frequency only , no pain on urinating etc., then may be your consumpion, food and drinks.. Do you mean fluid retention or passing a lot of urine, totally differen?. Sounds like producing too much urine. Fluid retention, remains on body is not passed out and causes Ascites ( tum) and oedema elsewhere, especially ankles.
If you want more info which sounds like it. click on reply to this under my post and I will try and help you further. Lots of answers to both but do not know which you mean.
The Nurse said I had water retention when I had a scan - But If that isn't water retention then that would explain why the tablets do not work. Not really sure what to do. I was hoping that it would correct itself when I sorted out my adrenals & Thyroid - but that will take some time. I would really appreciate any help as on this I am very unsure. Thank you x
Hi Did you have an ultra sound?Do you know that you have a lot of fluid?Usually if bad enough it goes on by 1-3 pounds a night, weigh yourself every morning, after breakfast.. it is quite different to weight. if in ankles, that is not visible on ultra sound. You have to test just below the ankle bone, It should rebound and not dent.Check with thumb. Have you had U`s and E`s, kidney function done?sodium, salt , should be low in range,an electrolyte ,so imortant, potassium too should be bout 4, both electrolytes so closely related. Some diuretics better than others, what are you on? You have to drink a lot with them , mostly water. As dangerous otherwise. Salt, so long as sodium is in range used carefully only. Get back to me, if you like with this info. if certain answers it means it could be a heart valve, nothing to worry about but needs an echo, at the least.
Just going to hospital , will reply later. PM me if you like, click on my name.
What do you usually drink throughout the course of the day? Some drinks can irritate the bladder -- in fact, quite a lot of drinks can, including coffee, tea, Coke, Pepsi and cranberry juice. Try switching to plain water and see if that helps?
Throughout the day I have Normal Tea, Fruit Tea, Camomile Tea, Sugar free squash and Filtered Water. I will switch over and hopefully then I can stop living in the loo. Thank you
Something's just occurred to me -- is your diet high in carbohydrate? This can give rise to the situation you describe. I know when I have a carb-heavy meal of an evening, I'm forever running to spend a penny the next day!
It seems you have quite a high liquid intake. I know you said diabetes has been ruled out, but are your drinks governed by thirst, or perhaps just habit? I believe most of one's required liquid comes via food and there's no actual need to have lots to drink throughout the day, although obviously a couple of glasses of tap or filtered water are probably good for you.
The squash might be a possible culprit. Anything citrus-y can cause irritation, and as it's sugar-free, it probably contains aspartame, which is another ingredient to try and rule out.
If you find just having plain water to drink for a couple of days doesn't sort the problem out, you could perhaps try a high-protein/low carb regime and see if that helps.
Thank you very much - I will cut out squash and normal Tea and c how I go, If not I will look at my diet. I did wander if I was drinking to much but I did reduce my intake but I still went the same amount of times, just less came out. x
If you are female have you been checked for bladder prolapse, which can make you wee a lot and also make you 'feel' like you need to go. Just a thought.
Just before Christmas I was on a low carb diet that worked wonders for me regarding energy levels, clearer thinking and improvements in my mood. I also noticed that I wasn't getting up to the loo in the night at all.
Christmas has sent me backwards, because I've been eating the carbs again, which means getting up in the night and all of the other symptoms have came back. Eating carbs creates imbalances in sugar levels and encourages frequent urination.
I'm now back on the low carb diet and try to eat protein with more salad and veg and just a small portion of rice and potatoes.
Have you heard about the hormone Vasopressin - apologies if I have the spelling incorrect. I recently read about it in the book by Datis Kharazzian - Why Isn't my Brain working ? something about it being a diuretic hormone - maybe have a read and see if anything resonates....
Sorry about that, the book is called The food intolerance bible by Antony J Haynes & Antoinette Savill ( it is available in the library) It has endless info about food intolerance, Adrenals, leaky gut, Thyroid, recipes and herbal products that will help, along with questionaires and action plans.
