What test to ask for?

Hopefully this won't sound too much like a rant. My GP referred me to a new endo because I felt like I was getting no support from my previous endo. But when i saw the new Dr she is exactly the same. She disregarded the reactions that I am having since starting levo which is swelling, breast pain, brain fog, headaches which got worse as my levo was increased. I want to try work with the new Dr but I don't feel like she has a good knowledge of hypothyroidism. What test should I be asking for to help to optimise my medication? I'm getting so fed up of the breast pain I am getting and the whole body swelling. I feel like none of the Doctors help and I don't know where to turn.

Please reread previous post

Come back with new post once you get full thyroid and vitamin results

As your lactose and gluten intolerant you will almost certainly need T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

But important to get vitamins optimal first

Ferritin especially

Plus GP endo should be testing oestrogen and progesterone re breast pain

You would have thought an endocrinologist should know all this !

Vast majority of endocrinologists are diabetes specialists and useless for thyroid

Email Thyroid U.K. for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologist and doctors who will prescribe T3

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org

Always get full thyroid and vitamin testing done BEFORE consultation

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Only test 6-8 weeks after any dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking

Suggest you consider getting Dio2 gene test done

Assuming you test positive can help get T3 prescribed on NHS
