Does anyone know if melatonin interferes with T3/T4 absorption? I seem to remember reading that melatonin should not be taken in cases of auto-immune disorders.
Also I've just been diagnosed with Osteoporosis(often a side affect of taking Thyroxine) but can T3 cause it as well as T4? My endocrinologist has now taken me off T3 unfortunately.
I always take the T4 first thing in the morning and the melatonin/GABA an hour before going to bed. So plenty of time in between. I'm surprised you think the osteoporosis is caused by too little T4 as I've read in several 'Osteoporosis' books that one of the main causes of it is a side affect of taking thyroxine.
It says on the bottle that melatonin should not be taken if one has an autoimmune disease. As Hashi's is an autoimmune condition, I would not take it.
