What are the lab ref ranges please, and more important, how are you feeing? If you feel overmedicated there is room to decrease dose. If you feel well, stay as you are :)

My TSH 0.03 was were the endo wanted it, suppressed following thyCa at <0.1 but FT4 was low and FT3 below range. Currently TSH is 0.16 and FT4 18 and I feel better for it. GP has reduced dose to 75mcg (at my request) as he thinks I'm overmedicated. He's unaware that I self medicate with 25mcg T3 and stop it a couple of days prior to TFT.

do you feel better with the T3? Did you start on lower dose and you increased it until you felt much better?

Estrallaliana,

I added 20mcg of T3 to T4 and it cleared brain fog and improved clarity of though and concentration within a couple of days but I still wasn't well so tried 3 x 20mcg T3 for a while (I'd previously been prescribed it prior to RAI) and again, some improvement but not enough. I'm now taking 100mg T4 plus 40mcg T3 and recovering. The combination is much better for me.

If you've not taken T3 before take half a tablet at first and reduce to 1/4 twice daily if you get hyper feelings. After a few days take 1 tablet in 2 doses. It's best to stick with one tablet for 2 or 3 weeks before increasing the dose.

Clutter, thanks, I was curious. I don't need it, I think. I'm now having trouble to get my meds as I self medicate too. I take 60mg Armour (1grain) and doc gave me only 15mg haha, I cannot trust them at all. Where did you find your T3, is it cytomel?

The most important question is how do you feel? If you feel well with no hyper symptoms then your thyroxine isn't too high. If you have symptoms then you may want to try a further reduction with your GP.

Blood tests aren't particularly helpful once you are on Thyroid replacement - for some people, at least.

Don't forget to check your iron, ferritin, folate, vitamin B12 and Vitamin D If you are not feeling right. Good levels of these are very important, especially when you have a thyroid problem.

I hope that helps

I self medicate on Armour. My 3 weeks ago TSH is at 0.03 with a range of 0.40 - 4.50 and I feel optimized, pretty good. So you can compare, but we are all different.
