I'm I missing something (brain)??

The endo said."No good taking T3 in the afternoon if T4 is insufficient. You'r running on empty." So he has upped my T4 slightly to 125mg. and lowered my T3 to 10mg once a day instead of twice a day. I thought T3 was a top up .

Errrrr.......I have to say I can't follow that logic, but maybe someone knows better than me!

Someone else on here has just reminded us that T3 is more expensive than T4. Could that be the reason he's reducing your T3? Maybe thinking more of his budget than your health?

Did you feel well on the extra T3? Jane x

I don't understand his advice and I doubt whether many Endos understand how T3 works either.

It is good he is prescribing T3 in addition to your T4 but he may be relying on your blood levels to adjust your dose. If you don't feel the benefit of the adjustment within about six weeks advise him on your next visit.

The dose of T4 you take today has a half life of about 7 days, and takes about 6 weeks to leave your system altogether. Whereas T3 - which is the Active thyroid hormone all our cells need and which have to be saturated with enough T3 in them to make us feel well is absorbed into our blood stream within a few hours, which many describe a short-life but they don't understand the action:-

Quote - a single dose of T3 will be long gone from the patient's system before he or she experiences most of the benefits of that dose—a molecular and metabolic yield that may smoothly spread out over one to three days. The "rocky road" ( August 7, 2001).

Well his attitude has baffled me, you should have asked him to explain his thoughts behind this thoughts as I don't think he has a clue about T3.

Thanks Moggie,It's hard when you are face to face with someone like that, especially when he had a student with him. (who he didn't have the manners to introduce.)After all the problems before,I thought going up the ladder I would have found someone with brains, but no. They sit in there ivory towers, taking the money and can only speak rubbish....Well at least I didn't have a hissy fit. Hope you are keeping ok.x

Are you every going to let me forget my hissy moment.lol. Maybe you should have chucked one yourself and that might have brought him crashing down from his ivory tower.

Write him a letter telling him how puzzled you are by his comment and ask him to explain - see what reaction you get.
