Hi so as not to give a false reading for the blood test don't take your medication that morning ..If you take at night ...don't take it ..its perfectly safe and you won't even notice you have missed it ...you can either after blood test take med as normal to start next day...remember no food or tea with milk 2 hours either side of medication ...good luck with blood test ....

Milk has a lot of calcium in it and can stop your body absorbing your levo.

Levothyroxine needs to be taken on an empty stomach so that the body can absorb it properly, hence no food or drink (except water) for two hours either side of taking levo. If you are taking anything with iron or calcium in it then leave a four hour gap, I personally leave a gap of four hours inbetween milk and levo due to the calcium in the milk. A lot of people find it better to take their levo last thing at night, making sure they haven't eaten for two hours, so that the levo can absorb over night with no interference from food or drink, even some doctors are now realising that this is the best time to take levo.

Good advice about not taking meds before blood tests. It is because our TSH is highest in the morning and the earlier your blood test the better. I would expect your GP to increase from 25mcg as it is very low. Always get copies of your blood test results for your own records, with the ranges, and you can post them for members to comment. Sometimes GP's are happy with their patients being 'in range' but the patient may still not feel well. When first diagnosed we have a lot of reading to do in order to recover our health. It is a slow process with increases in meds about every six weeks till you get to an optimum level. Everyone differs.
