thank you Moggie, that site gave me all the information I now have a better knowledge of hypothroidism
Yes, but for me when I am on too low a dose. You don't give a history in your Profile so I don't know when you were diagnosed. I do know you say you are on 50mcg and that's o.k. for a starting dose if you are recently diagnosed. I attach a link below re low dose. Also there are some excellent posts today regarding Research articles which say we should be on T4/T3 for our health's sake. Go to the question dated June 8, 2001
I have a degenerative disc problem and the discs in my neck cause this as well.Trapping a nerve, also I sometimes get pains in shoulder joint and elbow on one side.I am on 100 mcg thyroxine and I am underactive.I have been taking meds for 14 yrs and the dizziness only started around 5 yrs ago. When my neck problems started.
I didn't know degenerative discs could cause this too. I also have neck disc degeneration and have recently been getting a lot of quite bad dizzy spells. I always learn something on here!
Quite often all new ills are put down to thyroid meds, no one really looks at what else is going on in their body. When I look up or bend head down then I get dizzy spells as well as looking down when going down stairs, supermarkets are the worst places when searching the isles. The neck disc problem for me is confirmed.Good luck!
Yes I had that ..was told to drop from 100mcg to 75 and I started to feel dizzy , I started to take 100mcg other days and 75 other , it was ok after that but curiously now I am on 75 again and don't feel dizzy at all . It just looks like ( to me ) that thyroid does what it wants on daily basis and there is never any common patterns with it.
It could be low blood pressure associated with hypo or benign positional vertigo (a problem with the ear) The latter for me followed a cold and I had the Epley manouvere to correct and diagnose it. It moves gunk from the balance part of your ear. Its very quick but does bring on nausea so probably best not to drive. You lay on your back with your head hanging off the "bed" in the docs office. You turn your head one way then the other, eyes open. For me I could do one way then severe vertigo when I turned my head to look the other way. A locum did it with no warning before the appointment so I had to drive after the nausea had passed! The vertigo went away on its own after about 2 weeks but I had to try to look straght ahead for a while as moving my head up or down made me feel ill.
I get dizzy all the time , i looked through the list & suffer from 90% of the effects . Take things a little slower & do t turn suddenly as this makes it worse x
Hi patsy..did you get any relief from dizziness? I was diagnosed with under active thyroid 2 years ago. Also cervical spondylosis discovered from various mri scans etc. Just had my thyroxine put up to 125mg, and am totally off balance, with head pressure & facial flushing..I am at wits end, had this everyday for 2 years..x
