Hi I wondered if anyone could tell me what is a 'normal' pulse resting rate. thanks
morning pulse: Hi I wondered if anyone could tell... - Thyroid UK
morning pulse
Hi Normal heart rate, depends a little on range, ideally about 70, a little over or under fine. if it jumps around while measuring, that is significant, but needs to be manually and not with thumb. Can alter time of day, good idea to measure it in connection with a cuff, BP measure too.BP does vary a lot during the time of day.

I am doing it first thing in the morning before I get out of bed. Mine is 60 beat per minute.. and Im 35 .
Less than 100 is normal, everyone will have a different rate and the rate will change according to different factors (ie fitness status, had lunch/food, had caffeine or alcohol, had medication blah blah blah blah).
I should of said, Resting rate first thing in the morning before I get out of bed. I am also checking my temperature which is around 36.2. I haven't been diagnosed with any thyroid problems yet but I believe I have some issues -I phoned up Thyroid UK and explained all my blood tests and history and it was them who suggested I ask my GP to get referred to endocrinology which is going though. So I am just getting all my test results, daily temp and pulse up together before I see him - which could take months! As I am new to this I was just wondering if anyone could help..So Thank you for your replies. I have fibromyalgia : B12 is 170, FT4 9.0 (2011) TSH 0.73 (2011), FT3 5.4 (nov 2013) FT4 13.2 (nov 2013), TSH 1.64 (nov 2013) .
It would be helpful if you gave the ranges for these results as labs vary. B12 needs to be higher and you should ask for ferritin, folate and Vit D testing as well
Resting heart rate can be anything from 50 - 75/80. When doing moderate excersise like brisk walking around 100-120. But you need to get a healthy glow and a bit of sweat with that. So I'd say your resting rate is ok. Eating raises your heart rate, going upstairs raises your heart rate even just sitting up in bed can do it. Don't get to hung up over it.
I was just told if you have an under reactive thyroid your resting morning pulse will be low..but I cant seem to find out whats low x
You need to ask your gp. But I would think you'd need to know what is was before deciding what is low for you. If your pulse is above 50-55 and you're not feeling faint at all everything is ok. Your blood pressure doesn't have an affect on your pulse.
Im not feeling faint at all. I cant get to see my GP for weeks (prob mid Jan now) I do not know my blood pressure. I might phone up Thyroid uk and ask them as it will be quicker. Trying not to sound nosey but what thyroid promblems have u got...did you have to do the basel temp and pulse chart? I thought it all helps the consultant in diagnosing you x
There's family trait of thyroid problems my maternal grNdmother and my mom. I had my thyroid removed due to it growing down behind my breast bone and increasingly having difficulties in breathing. A locom dr noticed my neck was "thick" years before. Tft's showed "normal levels" for years then it grew. Had a thyroidectomy at the age of 50 now 58 and still not right. When I take 125mcg go to high, can't sleep, to active. When it's reduced become depressed. Type 2 diabetic too so it has an affect on sugar levels too and plays havoc with my diabetes. So fed up at the moment.
I know my auntie and nan had thyroid and both r diabetic problems - I should find out more. sounds like you have had a hard few years. hope you feel better soon.x
Mine is 44 this morning - typical of most mornings before I get out of bed.
Low 50's seems to be my normal at rest during the day - it had gone up by around 10 when I started taking T3 (10mcg) as well as T4 a few weeks back but has sinced dropped back down to previous levels, at the same time some of my Hypo symptoms have returned.
wow 44 thats low..But are you quite fit though?.
Reasonably - in the summer I Swam in the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere and had been training by Swimming a mile 3x per week plus Cycling ~12 miles 2x per week. It was just after that I was diagnosed Hypothyroid / Hashimotos and with low Testosterone, then started Hypothyroid treatment (have yet to start treatment for low Testosterone) with Levothyroxine.
I ended up with lots of aches and pains so quickly ditched the Cycling and had to lessen the Swimming regime too. I'm still typically managing 2 to 3 times a week and will do a faster 1/2 mile plus some sprinting at the end of each session. I tell myself that's enough to keep me in good shape other than still being a good bit overweight (why I went to the Dr. in the first place with not losing with so much training).
I think I do have a decently low resting heart rate from my training - and my Endo thinks that's what it's down to too - but I think I'm being flattered ~10bpm going by what I experienced when I started on T3 in addition to T4 and that I'm now slightly Hypo again needing a dose increase. My Aural body temperature reading supports that (Braun Thermoscan) with it now having dropped to 36.6 degC before I get out of bed in the morning after rising to 37.2 degC when I first had the T3 added. Before diagnosis I was typically 35.8 degC at the same time.
