Is all t3 animal based?

Hi,

I am getting confused about t3 and ndt, are they the same thing?

I was thinking about sourcing t3 myself but don't want to take it if it is taken from animals as I am vegetarian.

No, not the same thing.

T3 (also called liothyronine) is synthetic.

NDT is desiccated thyroid, made from ground up pig thyroid. It contains both T4 and T3.

Before the invention of synthetic thyroid hormones… I think around 1960-ish), desiccated thyroid was the *only* option. So, the piggies saved our bacon ;) (Sorry, couldn't resist lol)

I take Armour and have a friend who has to take a 'pig preparation' for a different condition. She always says 'gotta love the piggies'!!
