I was also advised by my GP that I was post Menopausal as my blood profile indicated this. I have gradually be increasing my Thyroxine and have very slowly began to feel slightly better. Earlier this week I had a period which the first one this year. I am now very confused as is it normal for this to happen when the blood test show I am post Menopausal. I don't really know what to believe any more.

No periods can be caused by thyroid problems. Surely you'd know if you'd been through menopause even without a blood test? I certainly did! If you are of a certain age, you could be peri-menopausal. All hormones seem to be interrelated.

I don't think you'd necessarily know you've been through menopause especially if this happened at the same time as becoming hypo. When hormones are interrelated, as you point out, it can be difficult to know which symptoms we can expect from the menopause and which ones are hypo. This has been my experience over the last few years. :)

I do have the the signs and symptoms of The menopause and the blood test has confirmed I am post menopausal not peri menopausal that is why I don't understand why I have started bleeding again!

Even through the menopause I think it is possible to have an odd period and its nothing to worry about. You might find it is the last.

Thank you that's reassuring.

I suggest you run it by your GP since they said you were post menopausal. It's most likely to be due to stimulation from the thyroid treatment - this happened with me - but better to check.
