I have a test booked for next week and am wondering about taking meds. on the day. The test is booked for 13.30 on Monday. I take 100 mcg. T4 and 10 mcg. T3 early in the morning followed by 10 mcg. T3 early afternoon,

Take your medication after your blood tests otherwise it will skew your tests.

Hi Shaws,kind of you to reply. I was thinking of skipping the meds. am but the letter says to take as usual,but does that apply to thyroid ? this is a "general" letter.

I am sorry if I misled you, I was referring to a thyroid gland blood test but realise you are referring to a Synacthen test so hopefully someone who has had this can advise.

Hi Beaton, I expect you've had your SST by now - I just wanted to alert you to the possibility that the test may give a normal result when you actually have secondary hypoadrenalism. It misses 2 cases in every five. See this thread healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... for more details.
