i have just found this site and i have a questoin, i started taking medication for 20 years i have had the pill i think to kill my gland ? my strencth has gone from 25mg to 125 mgs daily ,i have had my annual blood test and i have been told to see my gp . how long can this go on.

Sounds like you might have had radio active iodine treatment, that can be given as a pill and it will destroy your thyroid. If that's what you have had then I think it is pretty much thyroxine for the rest of your life.

Make a list of questions to ask your GP before you go and ask for a copy of your blood test results with the lab ranges ( they will know what you mean) so that you can see what is happening to your body.

Always get a copy of your blood test results (with the ranges) for your own records.

Have your blood test as early as possible.

Also request Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as they can be low.

When you ge your results post them on a new question for members to comment on them. Sometimes we are not given enough meds to make us feel much better.
