Got my results from my GP. Does any think my TSH is a bit low.

I would appreciate your comments,

Serum free T4. 21 pmol. (9.0-25) Is this too high?

Serum TSH. 0.68 mui/L. (0.3-5.0). Is this low?

Serum free triiodothyronine. 4.2 pmol/L. (3.5-6.5).

Unfortunately I had my bloods done 3hours after my meds. Eltroxin 100/125 alternately.

My doctor would be happy with these results. If you feel ok then this is also right for you!

Hi How do you feel? The 3 hours no good. When very ill I did that my FT3 was double my normal, T4 higher than usual, however tSH not altered. I would not alter the meds until a retest. T4 is a little high, TSH a little low and Free T3 a little low. We ( unlike docs) do not worry about a low TSH if you feel right.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Have always taken my meds on test days, didn't realise till I joined this foram. Also didn't realise I supposed to take thyroid med by its self. No one ever told me. I won't change anything and see what results are like without meds on morning go test. Thanks for input. Kathy.

Yes, it is odd, most docs do not realise either, beware of doing them , when doing other tests and had meds, I refuse then. Vets have known for years and refuse animal tests after meds. Also Bet Blockers , always take after the test too. As I keep telling my docs,.!

Best wishes,

Jackie

I'm similar to you TSH is 0.001 and T4 is 21 and I'm feeling great. Can't for the life of me get them to test T3. Which may explain why my weight is increasing when I barely eat. I hope you are feeling good too.

Thanks yes I don't feel too bad but easily get down, get some circulatory problems and cannot lose weight even though I exercise and am struck with what I eat. Very disheartening.

My docs won't normally test for T4 or T3 only TSH. But I went top doc in our practice and explained I wanted them because I didn't even know if my body is converting any T3' at that he was pretty speechless and agreed to get it done. I was on a roll, I also asked to have them printed out. I think we are actually entitled to full blood test aren't we? I also think it may be a post code thing and depends which Primary Care you come under.

There is no 'normal' except what is good for each individual. As your ft3 and ft4 are in the mid/upper range then most people would feel good with these values and the low tsh is merely reflecting that your body is not calling for more thyroid hormone. However, as said previously you should really not take your meds before tests in order to more accurately reflect what amount of hormones are circulating in your blood serum. And, definitely take your thyroid meds away from other meds/vits etc. Clinically, if you feel well, then enjoy!

Thanks everyone, I do now take Eltroxin at least an hour or two before other meds and will in future not take it until after any blood tests. I do get a few symptoms but am not too bad. Wish I had this 20 yrs ago when I was really struggling. Thanks Kathy.

Its not good news to take any thyroid meds an hour away from ANYTHING, which includes food, drink (except water) or other medication and supplements. You need to stick to the two hour rule and if you are taking anything with calcium or iron in them (and this includes milk as it contain a lot of calcium) then you need to increase that to four hours.

I feel best at 0.03, so I'd feel awful with your TSH, but it's different for different people. Your T4 looks good and your T3 could do with being a tad higher, but it's where you feel best. If you make a note of your results, what meds you are on and how you feel, you can monitor what's best for you. x
