You should ask your GP to do a Vitamin D blood test. Also ask for a Vitamin B12, iron, ferritin and folate if you haven't already had them.

Some hints:-

An extract

Did you know that the thyroid becomes more effective in the summer? So if your symptoms come back a bit in the winter, you may need a slightly higher dosage of your hormone replacement.

If you post your blood test results in a new question, with the ranges (figures in brackets) members will comment on them. Even though GP's say they are 'normal' they mean in the normal range which can be quite wide and, for us, they should be towards the top. For instance they will say 237 for B12 is in the normal but the range is up to about 900. You also cannot overdose with B12 supplements.

I have been on Vit D for about 3yrs (self medicated) hada blood test about a month ago and my level was normal. I feel much better and definitely have more energy. Have just bought B vits which contain b12 will these be ok or would I need just B12.

What was your 'normal' VitD level? I've been supplementing and it got to 100 nmol/L felt good but I stopped for the summer to make sure I wasn't overdoing it - until Sept when my 'elbow-ometer' indicated I was low again (I'd had 6 monthly tests, due another soon).

I've recently had an active B12 test a bit low at 53.5 (range 25-165 pmol/L) then the GP's ordinary test was 521 (190-900 ng/l) - however I had already started to supplement with B complex and now a 'boost' vitB spray (sublingual - under tongue). Feeling a bit better for it, I think, or maybe it was the weekly liver & onions? J :D

All the B vitamins are excellent. If your blood test for Vitamin B12 showed below 500, you could also supplement with sublingual methylcobalamin B12.

Hi Most people that need Vit D, hormonal, need it all the time. However, first you need to have it tested and then before any tretment you need a corrected calcium test. it can make calcium go out of range. It must never go over range. It can , also mean you need some calcium with the D. ask Endo, best or GP, script. Then retest both after 3 months, it takes that long. Then now and again.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Thanks for all your advise had all the blood tests done said all was normal , forgot to ask for a print out, just didn't want to take vitamins if I dont need them.Besides tried taking vitamins before just gave me stomach cramps so gave up on them.
