Whilst not strictly speaking a thyroid issue, I thought some of you might find this interesting given how so many thyroid patients have sleep and/or 'brain' issues. Well I did anyway
One of the very first things I noticed when I started on levothyroxine (which is what I still take) was improved sleep.
Went through quite a long time when I was waking up at 12:00, 01:00 or somewhen like that and unable to get back to sleep. Eventually did and woke up feeling very under-slept (yes - new word!).
I have always taken my levothyroxine at bed-time (except on day-before-blood-test).
I also find I sleep much better if I take some of my T3 at night, children permitting. My brain feels in need of a good cleanse this morning though! Maybe tonight I will get a good night's sleep
I skip my bed-time dose, have the blood drawn as near 08:00 as possible, and catch up with the tablet straight after. It is the only time I take no notice over taking the tablet within a short time of eating/drinking.
I then go on to take my usual dose that bed-time.
Others may well find that arrangement does not work for one reason or another.
Literally, as you were writing this post Carolyn, I was reading about the same thing on the BBC website and wondering how it ties in with thyroid related sleep issues.
