Thank you Babymaker for reply. I have made a huge circle, trying to look for help, including hospitalization at st barts in London which appeared to be useless. I ended up at the same point, I can only cry and think when this is all going to end, because next step would be to go abroad and i cant afford this, I wasted so much money here in uk trying to get any help. I cant even talk, I am so distressed. I just know I need to reply because if I wouldn't that would be rude. thanks for sharing , i hope you will get some help from you gp. Exx

Hi Edysia

Can really identify with you, the muddled foggy feeling is horrible and makes me feel really stupid a lot of the time. SometimesIfeel just like you, I dont want to talk to anyone as I feel so tired and concentrating is almost too much. Yes I am on thyroxine 125mgs it was dropped from 175 a few months ago as I was showing signs of hyper when I am hypo really. Ah well ever onward I hope you feel better soon xx

in reply to jumpup

Thank you jumpup, I lost my hope for getting better. I have seen many doctors and I am back to square 1 and sick and tired. best wishes/ E xx

I have been hypo for almost 7 years now and brain fog just seems to stay with me, it has never gone. I think the worse bit about it is feeling stupid in others company when you lose your thread completely. Don't know if this means I have never been given my optimal dose of levo or whether I would find a change of medication would solve the problem, or at least lessen it. However, if doctors continue to use TSH test only to determine our well being I can't see the problem of brain fog being resolved unless we experiment and self-medicate which we shouldn't have to do and isn't the most desirable of situations to be put in. Big hug and wishing you well Edysia....

Thank you Jen. Experimenting is all i can do but it doesn't help , doctors do not help either. thank you so much for sharing. E xx

Vit and mineral deficiencies can cause brain fog and depression, as well as insufficient thyroid medication. If you still have hypo type symptoms when you feel that your thyroid blood results are good (or even hyper) then you need to get B12, folate, ferritin/iron and vit D tested.

in reply to

Thank you hampster1 , i was always on the top of supplements, everything you can possibly imagine, i take it all. My D3 is now over 112 and b12 level near 995. Still supplementing iron and other things. other levels of vit. and minerals are also fine. I am in a hopeless situation.

Edysia, are you still on armour? So sorry that you still feel so poorly-you must still be under treated.x

in reply to

Hi Janjan,. I am on erfa, 1.5 grain , i was always on erfa. I am under treated and this is not in regards to thyroid only, my other hormones are out of order. I cant increase because i get irregular heart beats and I tried to increase many times, very slowly going backwards and forward and my heart still cant take the increase. Sorry i cant write much. E xx My tsh is now 0.01 but my T4 is falling down to 11.6, free t3 wasn't tested, as hospital - st barts in london i was recently admitted to, do not do free t3 tests, this is sick...

Sorry, yes i remember you are on Erfa. That's terrible that Bart's doesn't test for T3! I'l be honest, it took me a very long time to get to feel better, so i really hope things improve for you. xx

It took me a long time too, but got there on the end. I hope your other issues are ok? Xx

have you tried a combination of erfa and T4? I found on high T3 (20ug) that I felt out of it. I preferred 10ug T3 plus T4. Your results suggest that you T3 is very high.

Brain fog my main complaint, I can almost live with the rest of the symptoms, if I could just think enough to work and run my business I would be less stressed, depressed and I am so tired of sitting looking at piles of things to be sorted. I never used to be like this - nothing got past me once, now I feel like a liability to myself and others. I write, edit and publish and it is almost impossible to keep to deadlines and I live in constant fear of not being able to achieve.

I am on 112.5 Levo and this has been reduced after a higher dose made my heart race, I have been on this dose for about 6 weeks now and I feel myself getting more and more foggy. I cannot think anything through - I avoid people as I feel I appear stupid, every so often I get a lucid moment and realise all that I need to achieve and then it is gone and I am back to the muddle again. I was once incredibly organised, structured and creative. Now I am less use than my sofa and it breaks my heart. Cannot get NDT here in France it is banned.

I am due to go for another blood test and then to the gp's this week, so will try and get him to see. If they cannot raise the Levo due to my heart then I need them to think about adrenaline testing - maybe that is the problem. The truly annoying thing is that the person I was before the TT and the onset of all this stupidity would never have allowed myself to be treated/untreated in this way, I just don't have the fight now.

I hope that everyone ends up out of this fog soon and in a better place - surely to god we deserve it.
