Hi

I am under care of Dr P. After intiial 12 weeks of diaries/Nutri Thyroid/Nutri Adrenal Extra he has told me to order this.

Treatment will be this: Cut down Nutri Thyroid to 2 x a day and start Cytomel. 12.5mcg at at breakfast for 10 days then if all ok 12.5 mcg breakfast and same lunch.

What do I need to know about this. I see its synthetic. Can't see many side effects...How long before I will see an improvement?? With food or before??

ANY TIPS WILL BE GRATEFUL

Before food would be best as some, myself included, say that food can interfere with the absorption.

You also need good iron levels for this to work at its best and the biggest side effect I can think of is to do with the heart.

Have a look at this link

The only natural T3 is found in the small portion of desiccated thyroid. So T3 is always made in a lab. But, still, your body needs T3 so unless you are really unusual, it should not cause side effects. Do you know if your nutri-thyroid contains any T3 at all?

I started as you are going to and am taking 25 mcg. now and doing okay. I'm not seeing huge improvements in four months except I know I have a bit more stamina and a little more heat tolerance. I am hoping that repair work and subtle changes are still taking place.

I don't think you have anything to fear.

It will take a few days before you know how it is helping. The body takes time to adjust. Make sure you take the doses at the same time each day (if I am out by more than 30 mins it hardly seems to work!). If you have a mental fog at present (typical of hypothyroid) then that often clears first and is a helpful sign. Hopefully it will make you feel livelier. What are your symptoms at present?

Everyone is different and just because you take T3 it does not mean that it is all being used. That is why, presumably, Dr P started you on adrenal supplements. Stick with the treatment and be patient. It can take time and change can happen slowly. Personally, I did not experience any side effects from T3 and did not differentiate between with or without food. Don't overthink the problem, but just try to find what works for you.

i take t4 and t3 and the t3 definitely made me feel better, and it made the weight come off more importantly...i dont 'feel' any different i.e jittery or anything like that but it certainly does help me get out of bed (i take it as soon as my alarm goes off) x

T3sorted: I have most on the bloody list but mainly still chronically fatigued, intolerent to exercise, brain fog, depression on some days, tight uncomfortable neck (new one!) tight chest blah blah I could go on.

Heloise: My lovely cat returned!!! no more anxious field searching, little monkey.
