Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I have heard such wonderful things about the forum I really need help. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and my GP seems to be not able to do anything to help me. I need to see an endocrinologist. I live not far from Manchester and I searched the Internet trying to find a 'good' thyroid specialist. I found a name of prof Julian Davis, at Manchester Royal Infirmary. I do not know if he would be the right person to help me?
I am wondering if anybody ever seen prof Davis and if yes can you please share your expieriences. I am very worried as I have tried a couple of other endos but it was a disaster.
I am so desperate as it is so hard to get referral and I don't won't to see the wrong guy again.
Thank you so much for your suggestions.

HI about ayear ago i beleave you gave a lady some information about a endo in the manchester,
i am seeking one at the moment at the salford royal hospital manchester he is horrible a big head and does' not listen i want to change but do not want to change to another one like him,
I know this post is from 5 years ago, but I am currently experiencing the same, I have no clue about what NHS endocrinologist to choose here in Manchester, I am worried about choosing an unsuitable endo, knowing how difficult is to get a referral from my GP.
Would you PM any detail please?
I would really appreciate your help on this matter.
Hmmm, I sent him a email last year and his responce, went something like this. I do not treat if tsh is normal or prescible t3. I ran!!!!! It's up to you. Sorry that's just my experience. Xx
Mia, I have seen two great private specialist, expensive, it's the nhs who don't take private diagnoses on board, having said that, opinions of these endos opened doors. X
Dr Peatfield has clinics in Manchester every 2-3 months. You can google him to find out more. He has helped many on this site, I'm sure they can vouch for him. He's not cheap I think the first consultation is about £175. I'm currently reading his book "Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy" It's a very good book and highly recommended.
i have been suffering with issues that result in me sleeping for upto 18 hours a day. i visited doctor requesting to be given medication to be fully checked and apart from saying my vit d was about 7 and giving me vit d tablets he hasnt investigated further.
second time i went for vit d tablets they refused me so i had a blood test and found out my results now 1.37 for vit d..and doctor has told me i dont need vit d tablets. im asian all mu family have to take vit d. it helped me to not sleep 18hours a day to sleeping about 12 or 13 hours. i am still exhaused he said i am fine looking at my full blood count. but i am not fine. he tried to give me anti depressants because i said i am getting annoyed that my life is being wasted in bed and i cant do much as i am always tired.
i know my fatigue and hairloss on my head and extra gain in areas not common for women to have hair and pain in my left pelvic area where i have a cyst inside my overy are NOT normal .. i am upset with not being heard. i need to see someone else but i dont know who or how..
i am sure vit d 1.37 is very low. i have lost weight i am about 6stone. i pushed for blood tests including vit d and testosterone.these are only things as a lay person i know of to get checked. doctors would givr me a copy of my blood results..i had to push for the following to be given to me and they said they wont do it again.. why?(is this legal)..
can anyone understand the below results since i was sent away as fit and well.
