Levo & the mini pill. I take mini pill (Micron... - Thyroid UK
Levo & the mini pill. I take mini pill (Micronor) anyone know if I can take them at same time as my levo (keep forgetting them!!!)
There was a similar question a few days ago and I learnt that the mini pill does not contain estrogeon, which is known to interfer with thyroid medication, only progestogen so I did some research but could find nothing to say that progestogen interfers with thyroid medication no matter how hard I looked. Saying that I am a great believer in taking nothing at all, except water, with my thyriod meds.
If I were you I would look at the ingredients on the packet and if you can think of no other way around it, like taking your thyroid meds at a different time, then give it a go. It will soon show up in blood results and symptoms if your mini pill is interfering with them

Can you take either your thyroid meds or mini-pill at bedtime so as to try to ensure proper uptake of levo.
Dr John Lee said (in his book on breast cancer) that synthetic progestins (called progestogen in the UK) can make hypo symptoms worse, so it's probably best to keep them apart.
Apparently real progesterone helps thyroid function but the "thyroid-balancing effect does not occur with the synthetic progestins such as Provera or the oral progesterone pill"
yes, natural (bio-identical) progesterone is different to synthetic progestin found in some HRT and contraceptives.
Natural progesterone can balance out the hormones when there is too much oestrogen (oestrogen dominance), as there can be with some of us, and this is important for those of us on thyroxine so that it converts to t3 - as 'unopposed oestrogen' works against this.
