That is definitely the symptoms of over medication, but its also the symptoms of anxiety which can be caused by over/ under medication, or could also be a virus.

I think your probably right to stop or at least cut down on your meds until you get your results back. I would say to go see your gp, but if theyve already decided its stress then theres not a lot of point :/

Don't change your meds before you have blood tests TSH, FT4 and FT3. I was undermedicated with your symptoms so it can be very difficult to differentiate between hypo and hyper. I went to the GP and described the symptoms and she reduces meds which made me sooooo ill.

Dishorrea and cramps can be due to poor peristalsis which makes the food in your intestines ferment causing gas and it going through undigested. Hungry can de due to loow sugar being up the creek due to cortisol imbalance, which may also affect heart rate. So it is difficult to know what is what.

have a blood test, good luck

She has already said she has had her blood tests and is awaiting results. It will do far less harm to reduce for a day or two unnecessarily that it would to continue taking if she is over medicated

I dont think you should eat more sugar but try to keep your blood sugar level even. Eating sugar will give you a high and then a dip when you start feeling hungry and jittery. It may be, looking at the TSH, that you are a little undermedicated. Make sure iron, D3 and the other bits and bobs are good too. lacking in these things make you feel c**p when you are on thyroid replacement.

This doesn't look hyper at all. Perhaps there are adrenal issues or something else.

Check your iron, ferritin, folate and B12 too. These could be having an effect. It could also be a food intolerance, so you may want to look at your diet. Food intolerances can make you feel awful!

If it is a blood sugar issue like roslin suggests, that could be related to adrenals too. It might be a good idea to look at how you can support your adrenals now before they are more badly affected. It can only help.

I hope you find the answer soon!

I tend to agree. Stopping or reducing for a couple of days to see if there is improvement would be better if over-replacement is suspected. If she feels worse after a decrease then it can be increased again.

Hopefully blood tests will shed some light...

UPDATE.... took my normal dose 75mg levethyroxine today, around tea time experenced alot more dizzy spells, tummy feeling is empty, still have sweats . bp up this afternoon but still too low pulse rate . could dizzyness be after 2 days no meds? plus does Propranolol effect blood test ,10mg a day . im very confussed :(

I'm not really sure about propanolol but it could be reducing your heart rate.

Did you feel better not taking the thyroxine? Perhaps try 25mcg for a while and see how you go. Maybe after a week or so, increase to 50mcg and see what happens.

Clearly it doesn't seem to like you very much at 75mcg :(

I hope you find the answer soon!

Hi Carolyn..... the 2 days i was off Levothyroxine i did feel better.....Going to ty 25mg and see how it goes, then up it to 50mg ..Ive been on 75mg for 6 years..Had wondered if after the menopause you need less thyroxine, What a fantastic site

Thanks Carolyn x

Sometimes we just need more or less than we used to need :) During perimenopause, the hypothalamus becomes more sensitive than normal and that can play havoc with our bodies, so it could be partly due to that.

I would advice getting your iron checked and ferritin and vitamin D. This could uncover some of your issues.

Take care

Hi Bridgie

I can relate to what you are saying. As I've got older my requirement for Thyroxine has gradually, but quite dramatically, reduced as the oestrogen in my body declined with the menopause. It's been / is hard to get a balance and I occasionally have to stop for a day, and start again with 50, then 75, then 100, then 125 then return to schedule of 125 most days / 100 couple times a week till the cycle begins again. For years in my thirties I was on 200mcg / day, then into my forties it was 175 for a few years, then 150, down to 125 alternating with 150 and so on. Now 56, I am about to explore T3 as a way to be in more control of becoming over-medicated every few weeks. If I lower my dose of thyroxine I soon become hypo again (last TSH was 2.37, but when I upped it slightly I was soon getting the same symptoms as you).

During a trial on oestrogen hrt I soon had to up the dose of thyroxine, and without hrt I don't need so much, so oestrogen in my body (or lack of it) definitely does make a difference. Don't know anything about Propranolol but hope you feel better soon.
