Can anyone help please? Can't get eltroxin now can't get mercury pharma levo.
Hi ya I always take or rather have taken mercury pharma levo. It is now adipharm/mer ury. That is the brand name to be requested, having said that my 3 months supply I've just collected still is in the same old mercury boxes.hope that helps a bit.
Thanks I will let the chemist know tomorrow
This link shows you there are only three companies getting levothyroxine tablets made for the UK market:

On my last prescription I was extremely surprised to be given Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine dispensed from a bulk pack. I had never before even seen loose product. Indeed, the pharmacist was somewhat amazed as well and she ensured that I saw the actual bulk pack and, when requested, wrote the batch and expiry date on the pot I received.
The reason was her inability to get hold of standard blister packs. Since then, I have been waiting for someone to find the same issue. Looks like there really might be a supply issue. I did not want to worry people and precipitate a stampede to the pharmacies!
(Although I cannot say I have a major issue in taking any of the three products, I certainly prefer to stick to one all the time. Hence I ask my pharmacist who usually obliges without difficulty - even if it is not always on the shelf.)
However, one of the recognised sources for supply issue information says nothing:
So, yet again, what on earth is really happening?
Is anyone in a position to phone Amdipharam Mercury tomorrow and post what they say?

Hi Jeans, it's a pain! I have always managed to stick with the mercury brand thanks mainly to my local pharmacy (lloyds chemist) being really helpful. My prescription did not stipulate mercury brand so would get any sort they had,but if you do not leave the shop with them,ie open the bag at the counter and check the brand you've been given, and ask straight away for the brand you want I found that 1. If they have it they will change it or 2. They will order in for you. I have since asked gp to name mercury/am dip harm on script and have had no problems yet. Hope you have some luck with the supply too.
Hi cupi I do have mercury pharma on the prescription. I've tried two chemists and I think the second one may have got them for me but the first one couldn't get them at all they couldn't even order them!
Hi jeans looks like you've done all you can, hope they can supply for you.its a cranky situation all round really - a drug goes generic and even then can't be obtained.all very well them saying they are all the same but when it's so dose sensitive as levo it does make life difficult. Good luck with the hunt!
Have you tried Superdrug? They couldn't get me the Eltroin but managed to get me the Mercury Pharma Levo after a bit of complaining because they kept giving me Wockart and Activis. The pharmacist said that they only stocked these brands but managed to get the Mercury Pharma for me and said he would keep it in stock for me.
Good luck, I hope you get what you need soon.
