...me too ! I know she lives in France so perhaps she has been busy with visitors over the summer.....

I Hope that's the reason and hopefully see her soon.

I have missed seeing her about also...There are a few faces missing since the website overhaul! :-/

Now you mention it there are some others missing, hope they drift back.

We admins miss her too. I think there is a problem with her browser not working with this site. It is rather unfortunate because she was great to have around. Hopefully she will be able to rejoin us in the near future :)

So long as shes alright, was wondering if she had run off with the plumber :-D

Marz profile image
Marz in reply to flatfeet1

I too was going to mention that when I replied to you - about being stuck under the sink with the plumber ! - and then deleted it in case she was really poorly ! :-)

FF - I assume you have tried sending her a message..?

If not, I would suggest that.. :)

Yes, you are right, we have lost a few familiar faces since the switchover...

I would like permission from HU to contact people, but they have strict rules about data protection.......

I may suggest again that they do a mass email to all members to say that things have moved on since the original re-launch....

I haven't but I will. Good idea about the mass email though x

Louise, what you 'could' do if you like (maybe you have asked already) is if you can write an email on behalf of this forum which then HU sends over to all members or to just those who have 'vanished' (they must be able to see who has not posted for x number of months right?)

in reply to nobodysdriving

NBD - they are VERY funny about mass contacting people.... :(

I do feel, however, that perhaps an exception could be made in this case...

Surely it would be to their benefit too, to try and bring back some members who got lost in the initial 'big bang'.....!?

It is not only TUK Support that has lost multiple members..

I will ask the question...

yes Louise, after all 'THEY' mucked it up big time, so only fair they'd make up to it (I know they are fixing the original problems, what I mean is: the ones who left do not know)

Ok - I've asked...

Yes it's a shame that she hasn't been around, one of the characters on here in the nicest possible way obviously!

Her advice was good and she had plenty of knowledge to share.

Fly back greygoose!!

Many of my old chums are missing also.....Pop Shaw....Lucy Locket......Kathy..so many can no longer be found since the system changed.

I much prefered things the way they were, now i'm not sure if my emails are getting through to whom i am trying to contact. 'Many bloggs' now arrive in my email box every now & then instead of 2 or 3 daily !

It was much better when you came on & you could see pics of the bloggers down the side of the page.

I would pick who I wanted to contact from there if the topic was of interest to me.

I hope you find your friend. Jillymo x

After much nagging and moaning :-D I'm finding the digests much better now - more like the old system where you could see 20 or 30 all at once and take your pick or return later. This was impossible with a deluge of either individual emails or the so called 'Top Posts Today', which meant two pre-chosen for you, which I think was universally hated.

But I do agree that it was much better when you came on and you could see pics of bloggers down the side of the page, and access what they had to say. I mentioned this many times, but may have not put it very clearly. I thought they were called 'top posters', and didn't realise they were bloggers (duh).

I think (please forgive me if I'm wrong) that this was one of the things that 'we' - ie I guess the admins, not actually us - was one of the things they asked to be changed/removed. I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong but I think this was the case, because when I complained about having to 'browse by category' instead, (when you might never find who or what you wanted), somebody said that the pics down the side, (whether bloggers or top posters) had been removed at our request.

I haven't seen Greygoose for ages either, and had some great converstations with her. It didn't even occur to me that the new site might not be compatible with some people's browsers. How very sad, and what a mess. They must feel even more let down and shut out than we do (or did). xx

Still here Pettals, nice to see you too and Nobodysdriving, agree lots of faces missing x

Have to admit I don't bother saying much now, unless I am really at a loose end! It seems just a waste of time, with no idea if anyone is seeing posts - replies to threads I have written in don't often show up. It was never as interactive and flexible as other forums I have used, but it's now truly terrible :-(

Hi pictor

I have had exactly the same experience as you re receiving emails or alerts. I tried unticking and ticking the boxes and that seems to have worked for some members but didn't for me. I complained many times and it was always being 'investigated' but for the past few days I have again been getting emails etc. I originally had a hotmail address then changed it to a gmail. I only changed a couple of days ago back again to hotmail and it works fine now. Maybe a new email address will work for you.

in reply to shaws

It will be simply easier to dump it if it stays this way.

I already use two main email addresses, one gets used for nothing other than personal and "official" correspondence, the other for everything else, (I have others I don't ever check for throwaway/potential spammers and that's as many as I want, or it becomes a bit of a paper(less) chase!

The "return" I get from the site is now pretty minimal as, because of the drop off of contributors only a small proportion of contributors are clued-in and post informative and worthwhile content (present company included!), or (it's legitimate use) ask reasonable questions which warrant the effort of an answer. Sadly that proportion has dropped off dramatically, as a result it has become a forum for those who don't know even the basics of how to get around the Internet asking questions that have been answered a million times already. They should be pointed to a basic computing site that will help them connect to google.co.uk and use basic search functions first - after all, you wouldn't expect to provide an interpreter to a foreign language speaker you met in the street asking you technical questions!

It was already a very cumbersome site to use without any sort of "memory" to which posts you have seen or have replied to; and ultra slow to load :-(

Can't find my way round the site with ease anymore - that's when it loads at all!

Why am I the only one to have "EDIT" along side of "REPLY TO THIS" in the reply window ? I have always kept to posting guidelines!

Kangagirl profile image
Kangagirl in reply to mariolin

I think that's in case you want to edit the post after you've written it - say you belatedly notice a big spelling mistake or forget to mention something. I've used the 'edit' facility several times..I don't think they're telling you to edit, it's just if you need to...I think... :-)

Edit: Yep. just used it to add this after the original post.

mariolin profile image
mariolin in reply to Kangagirl

Thank you for replying yes Edit is a useful symbol if you need to correct a mistake, but I am still puzzled as to why I seem to be the only one that has it in my reply window. Hope my spelling isn't that bad! Lol

Kangagirl profile image
Kangagirl in reply to mariolin

Hmm, weird. I see I've got it next to my previous reply window because I used it to edit as a illustration - I'm sure you know how to use it anyway, and no, your spelling is fine! Maybe just another of those odd and inexplicable things that now goes on since they changed the site. Or, had you thought - maybe they're out to GET you :-D or drive you nuts as it seems to have done to the rest of us....dribble...dribble....

It is because YOU are the only one allowed to edit YOUR posts. Each person will see Edit alongside their OWN posts. And NOT alongside other people's posts.

(Admins see that everywhere!)

I think we are all in agreement that the change-over from our old Support Forum has been a disaster as it appears to have been launched without any forethought or prior run-throughs for testing how it would/should have worked. Many of us have had great difficulty and I am still trying to figure some things out.

The main Thyroiduk.org office has had so much more to do trying to remedy things.

Most times, members would have logged in just to look at questions/post or maybe give advice but would have got disheartened as you can only take in so much at one time. You also have to remember!!

Lots of members have contributed so much to the success of Thyroidukhealthunlocked which is now Healthunlocked/Thyroiduk.

I do hope they will return as members' experiences are invaluable to newcomers who have similar problems.
