Since started taking levothyroxine in 25/6 I have noticed that I don't actually need to reach my co-codamols hardly at all for my back pain ( disk removed and start of an artirithis in spine). I just wonder !

Never heard of that - have a look at the list of ingredient's on your levo leaflet and see if you can identify any anti-inflammatory agents. I do know that when I am under medicated my slip disc will play up again - as it did this week - but when my meds are spot on I get no trouble. My physio said that being hypo effects the core muscles, as well as everything else, and weak core muscles will cause back troubles.

Hi Moggie , I suppose that if you suffer from thyroid complaints and it effects every cell in your body and that when you get the medication right it also fixes the muscles and other bits around your spine ...just shows how bloody important it is to get Thyroid function right as it seems its the culprit for tons of complaints GRRRRR angry for people who suffer and to think you CAN feel tip top when medication is right !!!!!!!!

Thyroxine doesn't contain anything except Levothyroxine and fillers and binders. You are probably experiencing the effects of better thyroid replacement. Dr Lowe was a Fibromyalgia specialist, and he realised that many who are diagnosed with Fibromyalgia were either hypothyroid and undiagnosed or suffering 'sub-clinical' hypothyroidism.

He never once suggested that fibromyalgia does not exist, but that a huge number of hypothyroid folks were being diagnosed in error, and that the chronic pain associated with fibromyalgia frequently is resolved by better thyroid treatment.

Yes Marie I realised that on correct medication you can start ticking off other complaints and they all are connected with the damn thyroid :o( Thanks xxx

Have you seen the list of thyroid related symptoms on the main website? Very handy to print off so that you can do exactly what you've said.. begin ticking off other complaints that miraculously improve or disappear when your body and brain start to benefit from thyroid hormone!

By taking thyroxine you are providing your muscles the fuel they need to work efficiently, therefore your spine is better supported.
