My current basal temperature first thing in the morning has been 35.0 to 35.5 degrees which is way low, anyone else have this? May be I have adrenal issues? I never feel like I'm cold like some do though....
Basal Temperatures: My current basal temperature... - Thyroid UK
Basal Temperatures
Yes my waking temp is usually around 35.9 and lower at bed time. Like you I never really feel cold, no more than anyone else.
Should we be addressing this or is it just proof we are HypoT?
Well I've always been told its because I'm hypo! If you want to know if its your adrenals as well you need to do your DATS. But yes, everyone will tell you it's because we're hypothyroid ....
low temp is Thyroid.. nothing to do with adrenal issue
BUT your T4 (levothyroxine) will not work properly if you have an adrenal issue so it's worth taking the test

If your TSH is what your doctor calls "Normal" but you're still cold then you are not better.... you either need to address adrenal issues to make the T4 work (by taking DHEA) or you need to try T3 because you are not converting properly
I take DHEA and Armour.. and I feel.... fabulous!
I vary in the 35's too, but on several occasions I have dipped into the 34's like this morning, I registered 34.2!!!
Hypothermic apparently lol
Ann xx
having a low temperature says you're hypo, so if you're treated, and your doctor says you're fine.. all bloods are good then it's time to push for a change in medication.. NDT? T3? we're all different.. but if you're cold then you're NOT better.. and you won't lose weight and you will STILL have vitamin issues
The problem is the doctors seem to be unaware of clinical symptoms of thyroid gland problems, i.e. low temp = hypothyroidism. Once on medication, sometimes your temp will not come back to normal although you will feel warmer.
This morning was 34.3 three hours later 35.8 will update....
Maybe one day the amount one is below 'normal target' temp could be used to guage the dose of meds required to correct UAT?

Chance would be a fine thing, another low 34.3 today, first day back at work after 2 weeks leave and my head felt like it was stuffed with cotton wool, I was at my desk for 8am and felt like crying...
I'm relatively high [comp. to you] at 96.7F 9 [35.9C] early waking a.m. these days,on levo low dose 25ug.
Used to be as low as 96F [35.6C] some of the time. Iodine used to lift this..
I did notice an easing of muzzy head a.m. once starting on Spatone iron- not cheap for what it is [Welsh mountain water] but easy to take.
Give it a try- a few days would tell you if you're anything like my experience.
Little things like this can often help.
Iron is crucial in T4 to T3 conversion, apparently -as well as Selenium [which can be overdosed, btw!- but generally low in diets]
I think these low temperatures do indicate undiagnosed or undertreated hypothyroidism. Normally temperature should rise during the day (and then dip at bedtime?), so a higher morning temp and lower early evening one I believe indicate adrenal fatigue. Dr P diagnosed me with this, partly due to saliva tests but also symptoms and postural hypotension (blood pressure falling on standing). Interestingly, although I had low cortisol, I also had high DHEA, so wouldn't recommend taking this for adrenal fatigue unless you definitely need it. I have pretty much fixed my adrenal fatigue and hypoT by using the CT3M with Armour xx
It climbs slightly but never gets beyond the 35 range......and my tinnitus is driving me mad today, it's always worse when I'm stressed.
Tegs, I may try that, I also take selenium, magnesium and VitD
Sad to say I've had quite bad tinnitus for years, It's made worse by BP meds.
I'm hoping the thyroid med will eventually impact this - but too early days.
Good luck with the Iron-
P/m me,as replies here can get buried -when you get result, as hoped. That head freakin is something you don't want day after day- esp. working FT!
The people who make these drugs should try them out - and research after effects, instead of using the poor patient!
