and wondered if Dr Sk..... sees people who have Parkinsons Disease as well as people with thyroid disorders
I believe they have made a link between parkins... - Thyroid UK
I believe they have made a link between parkinsons desease and thyroid disorders , my friend has parkinsons disease
This is a link I have just read:_
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/152...
You could phone his office and enquire - Dr S is a Virologist.
Thank you , I will :))
There is a Parkinson's forum here on HU. You might find it helpful to ask for opinions there about any connection between PD and TD.

Thank you :))
Doesnt the abstract suggest that there is no link between PD and thyroid disease, it is no more or less common in people with PD, it is that the symptoms are harder to spot..?
Im in the dark about this , but wanted to help my friend, :))
As the diagnosis of hypothyroidism is rather controversial (base on TSH), they would have been better comparing the average TSH, T4 and T3 in this study. Even though there weren't clinically significant findings based on the number diagnosed with thyroid disease, it would be very interesting to see if the average thyroid levels were significantly different. For example, there could be an average TSH of 3.5 in one group and an average TSH of 1.0 in the other group but both groups could still have the same percentage diagnosed with hypothyroidism. It, of course, depends of the TSH cut-off for diagnosis which we know isn't as easy as just giving a number! Clearly the group with a TSH of 3.5 have significantly poorer functioning thyroids on average.
Yes see what you are saying CarolynB, dyslexic so takes a while to follow Thank you
...have also read that people with PD are often VERY low in B12 and can be wrongly diagnosed.... TD and PD can be similar in the early stages.
Thank you for this
Yes it would be good to know more about the effect off PD. medication on TSH levels it seems to suggestthat docs couldn't use the TSH test to diagnose TD
Yes , agree
