I'm afraid your question isn't very clear - what did you take to much of?

Also a little bit more info might help - have you got any blood results you can post on here and how/when do you take your thyroid medication. Do you leave at least two hours either side of your thyroid meds before eating and drinking (except water).

Why did your GP use your menopausal condition to reduce your medication?

Sorry for all the questions but it isn't clear what has gone on.

Do you mean too much thyroid was taken out and so you have been underactive ever since? Not that you have taken too much of something?

To reduce your 175mcg to a mere 25mcg is, well, sheer lunacy is the kindest thing to say about such a huge drop. Go back to your GP with a dated list of your symptoms indicating your worsening condition and require that it be recorded in your file. You have that right. This means that he has been formally notified of your declining health. Information given to a GP verbally does not have to be recorded, but written information has to be recorded on your file.

Please be aware that you have a right to be given a copy of blood tests, just ask your GP for them, then you can accurately post results (with ranges - figures after the results) as Moggie advises.

You are now being seriously undermedicated compared to your usual intake. You are probably unaware that you could have objected to this decrease at the time. You have a right to go back and require restitution of yout former dosage, for he is responsible by his medical negligence for your declining health as recorded on your written list.

If he refuses to restore your medication then he is being medically negligent in not treating you correctly. One solution might be to go to another GP. or ask for a referral to an endocrinologist. Presumably you had a thyroidectomy because you were hyperactive and you could ask for a referral to the specialist who decided thyroidectomy was necessary.

This is a bit jumbled, sorry, it is these new, cramped text boxes.

Yes too much thyroid was removed as it was swollen, which resulted in having an underactive thyroid. I have been on 175mg for 23 + years, now I am having hot flushes, joint pain ,foggy mind, panic attacks which have got worse since the dose of thoroxine was reduced. I find it strange that for many years the thyroid hasnt been producing enough and I needed thyroxine tablets and as menopause kicks in your thyroid produces less and I suddenly need less thyroxine
