What an awful change. Just what you don't need when you feel so ill and just getting used to things.

Why is it necessary to change things that work?? Really irritating, trying to make it more like a social media site. There is even a category for site upgrade, it should read site downgrade :(

Hi Danifox6,

Just came across this and thought I'd jump in and comment to give some clarity.

Changing the platform was imperative as the old one was built three years ago and was not coping anymore with the amount of traffic we receive, the amount of contents we have, and the increasingly more sophisticated information needs of our users. We had to build something new, and based on user feedback, we've implemented a lot of new features.

We're constantly trying to evolve and make things better so hopefully you'll give us feedback if you have any moving forward.

Best,

Lora

Team HU

I understand that there was a need on traffic grounds but is that why the style is different eg ordering if responses?

The new style also makes it harder for me to spend any real time on thIe site as it is more taxing to look at - remember we are not all normal (well) people :)

And why had it erased profile photos for some of us too?!

Also when typing responses it is now only possible to see a few lines at any one go, needing to scroll in up and down a small box. Hard with brain fog, believe me!

I'm still pleased this site exists and do value your hard work, honestly!

Thank you for the kind words.

We did have some issues in moving things over that we had entirely not anticipated.

Some of the small glitches you mention we are completely aware of so continuing to make fixes all the time (ordering of responses, profile photos, text box).

Could you be more specific about what is "taxing" about the look? Your feedback is valued and useful to us!

Many thanks.

I know you are not asking me so I hope you don't mind if I join in - I think it was easier to deal with (or I preferred it) when we used to have blogs and questions side by side.

And yes I can imagine the nightmare it must be for all you techie people with all unexpected problems popping up all over the place. It is a lot better than it was so you are definitely winning :-)

Ah thanks :) We will continue looking at your feedback and figuring out how to best arrange everything, so you might see tweaks here and there.

Hi Lora

Am replying to your question re taxing look - and am putting that first since I'm not sure where this will show up. Can't get my head around the hierarchy for responses. Can you give an indication of what that is. I replied to Carolyn whose replied to you but my reply is way down the page and not indented to her post?

Taxing because of the boxes I think. Before there was a continuum of responses, indented logically without the extra borders and grey background in between. Hope I'm explaining myself here. Could really do with new and old alongside!

And of course there is the additional 'recommend' box.

It is all too busy ... Even writing this it is a box within a box within a box. Previously there was just the one box and when the reply was added to the list no boxes.

Hope this is of some use to you.

Thanks

Sandi

Hi Sandi,

I realise the strange commenting is getting overwhelming! No worries - we are fixing this. It will default back to what it used to be, with the option of presenting it in reverse order.

In terms of the look, it's really our intention to make this look better on the eyes actually. Maybe it will take some getting used to? And the recommend button is something users have been demanding for ages. We are going to be improving on that too (most likely showing who it is that's recommending you!)

Hope this helps clear things up a bit - any more questions feel free to message me!

In the bottom right hand corner of each box you should see some diagonal lines or dots. If you click and drag this corner you can resize your box. Not ideal, I know, but it does make it a little easier than having to keep scrolling up and down :)

True of FireFox and Safari but I'm just checking IE and there's no box resize option in IE9 - you just get horrid up and down arrows to scroll through your text... it's truly awful!

At least I can get into the site in IE9 now though... couldn't even do that the other day.

I still cannot access the site on IE7 and it's a real problem for me as I have IE7 at work, work will NOT allow me to upgrade :(

I don't suppose they'll let you download a better, er I mean different browser either.

As the joke goes, Internet Explorer... the No1 browser for downloading a better browser ;)

Sorry to peeps who like IE. I just don't particularly. But, hey ho. Horses for courses....

nobodysdriving profile image
nobodysdriving in reply toPinkNinja

No Carolyn, we are not allowed to download ANYTHING let alone upgrade or change browser. And I 'hate' IE but that's what they make me use and an outdated version too :(

I have reported it to HU team but hey they probably cannot do anything about it :(

in reply tonobodysdriving

We really are trying to figure out a solution to that. The last thing in the world we want to do is alienate anyone from using our site. We hope to find a solution!!

ooooohhhh thanks I really hope you do find a solution as most of the times I access this site from the work computer, now that I can't I hardly ever get online here which is a shame as an admin :(

PinkNinja profile image
PinkNinja in reply tonobodysdriving

Probably not :( The trouble is that html and css evolve too over time so eventually IE 7 will have more and more trouble with newer websites. IE7 is rather old! They probably ought to upgrade at some point!

Ugh! That's not good!

Chrome is good too. I seem to have relatively few problems compared to some people.

I've not had many problems myself on my usual Macs with Safari. But I thought I'd take a look at the site in IE to check out the text box issue for myself. Thank goodness I don't have to stay in this browser.... aaarggghhh let me out now :-)

I'm not getting that little box on my iPad at the moment for some reason but I have seen it - on my desktop I think.

I haven't received one email that anyone has responded to this, and yes that box is ticked in my email preferences. It took me a year to get my head round the last site. Change the platform by all means, don't change the layout. I have a question that only 1 person has commented on, this has NEVER happened before. The layout before was clearer and simpler. Log in, see a box for questions a box for blogs so on and so forth. Pretty gutted and i don't have the energy to get my head round this, christ i can barely get out of bed in the morning, so thanks for nothing and leaving me even more frustrated and alone than before.

This is intentional, as per Matt's post that is pinned on the right of this page. Here's the link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Basically notifications were stopped while the new site was rolled out as they cause a lot of strain on the system. They will be reinstate once the problems have been sorted out. This is expected to be some time this week.

This change isn't anything to do with Thyroid UK so we are unable to help. You can submit your feedback to HealthUnlocked on this link support.healthunlocked.com/...

I have submitted my personal feedback about the site. It is worth doing. The more people who let them know how they feel about it the better :)

I'm sorry you are finding this all so frustrating. We are too, although a lot of things are getting sorted out now.

Why should i have to refresh everything i have commented on ?! I am just going to stop using the site. It's ridiculous. Do the people who decided on this ridiculous upgrade actually suffer from this kind of exhaustion?! Doubtful. Look at how many people have said they are not using it anymore. Nice work. And NO things DIDN'T have to be this way. I work within IT. Market Research clearly wasn't carried out. Too Tired like many others to be bothered. Back to having no support again.

in reply toDanifox6

Email notifications are returning asap. It's going to take some getting used to - no one likes change. But it's for the best.

Hope you'll try to stick it out a bit longer.
