Help! Still feel awful and don't know what to do next.

I have Hashimotos and Fibro dx.

I had private bloods done and the suggestion on here was to ask for my levo to be put up to 175mg, which I did and my GP agreed.

I'm still feeling awful - really tired and out of it, very headachy. I'm off gluten, dairy, sugar. I don't drink. I'm supplementing a wide range of stuff after reading about it on here and all levels were okay on tests, except vitamin D but that is on the up now - was 60 at Dr and 80 on private test.

I wanted to go to a functional dr or private endo, but I've struggled with work since September and am getting desperate with money.

I just don't know what to do for the best. Is there something else I should be getting tested for or looking into?

I honestly feel like I have no life at all now. I'm struggling to do simple things - the house is a tip, I lose a lot of the day going back to bed, I have no energy for anything. I often wonder if I'm just really depressed and I have to force myself to get on, no matter how hard or impossible it seems.

Have you considered having your adrenal glands tested? Low adrenals can make thyroid replacement challenging, worsening thyroid gland function and symptoms over time.

I've ordered a cortisol saliva test to see. Thank you.

Has your doctor thoroughly checked everything including liver, kidney and diabetes markers? You could also look on the British Thyroid Association website at the hypothyroid guidelines. They give a list of conditions for doctors to consider and rule out if you are still symptomatic. If menopausal, your doctor should also consider calcium deficiency and rule it out. Don't give up, be persistent to get to the root of the problem.

Thanks - I'll have a look at this. My liver function was off - ALTS(?) above range but I don't have the figures. I don't think kidneys were checked, but no diabetes.

Hi abbymeg this sounds just like me ...i was the same for over 2 years couldnt get out of bed felt awful ......ive now been on ndt for 1 year i do think that made a difference but it was advice and suppliments from the forum and a lot of time and patience that got me through ...i spent money on an endo but to be honest the endo didnt to me any good it was my own doing that has assisted me in my recovery ...i am not 100 % but i am a lot better than i was. Please dont give up i know u feel like that many days but you will get better. The admin girls on the site will help and advise you i just wanted to tell you that it will get better but it does take time.

Good luck and best wishes

Thank you for this. Why did you decide to try NDT? I am so tempted to source some and have a go. Since being medicated, I just feel like I'm on a downward slope even though I'm 'in range' on my results!

Hi Abbymeg, I had a prolonged viral infection starting last December & have had waxing & waning tiredness ever since. I switched from long time Synthroid use to Tirosint (capsule levothyroxine sodium) Dec 19th at the same dose. The hope was it would absorb better & improve symptoms. I felt depressed for sure on Synthroid but this type of fatigue stuff I now experience is completely new to me. However, now depression (inspite of fatigue) is gone. I am now thinking however Synthroid has it's redeeming features & I'm leaning towards resuming it to see if this fatigue goes away. I will be getting a second opinion later on this month regarding this & will post the outcome when available. I wish you a full recovery.
