Thyroid linked to malignant melanoma
There is a possible connection between high levels of TSH and malignant skin lesions, according to Jacob Schor:

This article was published in 2008 and was commenting on research done by others.
A further article in US Annals of Dermatology in August 2010 also makes a connection:

It seems that there is strong if anecdotal evidence that the two are connected in some way.
This clearly does not do anything to help you, but I do hope that your surgery goes well, and that you get the correct and optimal thyroid hormone treatment afterwards. At least by being a member of this forum you have access to help and support should you need it. I have had a total thyroidectomy so I have a good deal of sympathy for your situation.
Take care,

That's strange because I had a basal cell skin cancer removed after I started having thyroid issues which the specialist said wasn't sun related. Then a few years later I had another one removed which again turned out to be basal cell cancer. I'm wondering if they were related to my thyroid issues as my T.S.H. has been 4-5 for the last 7 years & still I'm told that my thyroid is fine although I only have half of it left & the remainder is covered in cysts!!
Good luck xx
I am sure that there is a connection between the two my tsh level was very low and just been diagnosed with hyper, and a multinodular goiter and will be having a total thyroidectomy in a few weeks time
My daughter had multiple malignant melanomas removed 6 weeks ago- one on her neck, and was then found to have 3 active nodules on her thyroid being told after biopsies that they are most probably cancer. She is having the left side of her thyroid removed in a couple of weeks. Seems too much of a coincidence, but she is also coeliac and this could also be a link.
I have just had scan to show cystic nodules- GP says probably benign no further action needed. I have read around subject and came across link to melanoma via BRAF oncogene mutation. This cause Nevis mutations (melanoma) and can cause primary thyroid Cancer. Now I feel need to go back to GP to discuss biopsy
Just google melanoma and thyroid you’ll get loads
I am just learning about this and yes there is.
The thyroid tends to go more towards
Hypothyroidism-without antibodies
The more melanoma there is or the more
Rapidly it is growing
