There are so many of us with the same problem and I don't know of anyone who has found the magic cure. I have had everything tested and come up with a blank.

Some shampoos work better for me but nothing has any permanent results.

...check out the tags for hair loss etc. There has been so much discussion on this topic so bound to be lots for you to read. LOW FERRITIN and IRON can be one cause.

Hope you find some answers.....

Same here my hair has been driving me mad. However, my GP has just raised my levo - I was really cold, system was sluggish, moulting like a dog and not due to go back to the endo until end of this month so I had a blood test beginning of June and am now taking an extra 25 mcg every other day and believe it or not I don't feel as if I am losing so much hair.

I used to have to rinse my hands then shake the hair off them every time I washed my hair, then I realised I was no longer having to do that and the pile of hair I pulled out of the plug hole was much less than normal so perhaps as you get to your 'optimum' medication your hair stops falling out - or less falls out.

Strange but true.Layering can make your hair appear thicker. Treat yourself to a trip to to the hairdresser.

Hairdresser took 10 years off me. Went short. Cut into nape at back, chin length at the front. Highlights also accentuate the thickest layer at the top. Instant facelift.

I have suffered from hair loss for years, getting ferritin up to 80 reduced it significantly however hair loss increased significantly over the last 18 months quite worrying to see the amount of hair covering my hands after simply putting conditioner in. Anyway I'm currently on a trial of t3 only stopped t4 5 weeks ago and the hair loss has stopped! Certainly teva and eltroxin did not suit me had a myriad of symptoms on it of which hair loss was only one. In my experience if you go to docs complaining of hair loss and weight gain it does not get taken seriously.

My hair loss is never taken seriously either. It's extremely upsetting but I have found that by treating my low ferritin it seems to make less fall out and my hair seems stronger. The trouble is I can never keep my ferritin levels up. They just drop again as soon as I stop the iron tabs. Eat liver once a week too. Anything is worth a try. X

Last time i saw him, my hairdresser said to get my iron tested so that's my next target, especially after reading that romulalupine :-)
