well...........I would say its impossible when you are not treated properly. My thryoid levels are good now, and I started SW 5 weeks ago and I have lost 9lbs! A by product of this has been that I am not eating bread (gluten?) and not having cereal. I have ryvitas for my healthy extras. I am allowed bread, and I'm not saying I will never eat it, but I think its helping me to lose weight. so, to answer your question, I would say maybe give Slimming World a go! x

It is difficult but not impossible! Stick with it and like Tingles said joining a slimming club may help :)

Your weight should reduce when you are on optimum medication and/or the addition of T3 to a reduced T4. It's getting the GP's to prescribe T3 which is the problem.

I know that feeling very well, Iv`e shed some weght sice Iv`e been on Levothyroxine, but I still don`t have the figure that i used to have. My stomach looks all flabby & disgusting, & if I could afford it I`d have a tummy tuck.

I have problems shifting the weight too after finally being diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year. I'm about to try Marilyn Glenville's healthy eating plan in her book "Fat around the middle". My sister (who is also hypothyroid and has tried all the diets like Slimming World and Weight Watchers) has had amazing results in 3 months. It is based on controlling cortisol and blood sugar levels to optimize weight loss and well being. Marilyn Glenville has written other books too and seems really well informed. You can pick up a copy of her book on Amazon.

As other people have said, you need to get your thyroid treatment to optimum levels first. I had to reduce my T4 and add T3 before I started to feel significantly better.
