I upped my thyroxine in April from 125mg a day to 150mg one day and 125mg next and have been doing that ever since. My results were t4 -18.9 range (12-22) tsh 0.30 range (0.4-4.0. The tsh has come back low and I have to see the doctor Wednesday, what does it mean?am I taking too much thyroxine?

Are those results from the other day? Or from back in April?

If they are the current results, then I would argue there is no reason to reduce the dosage so long as you are feeling well on it, and don't have any symptoms (such as fast pulse).

The doctor should be discussing with you - and you have to make sure you are prepared to put forward your point of view.

Thank you for your response. These are the results from the other day. I have been feeling a bit better, just the last week or two started to feel tired in the morning and hard to get up but I'm taking sertraline at night so I wondered if that is making me tired. I'm also still struggling with weight and sore ankles if I stand up for too long. No racing pulse though. The tsh results were quite interesting in 2010 it was 0.19 and in 2003 it was 5.25 so it has changed a lot .

Hi,

It sounds like you are probably on the correct dose.... or very near to it. If your GP does change your dose, it will only be a very small change.

It could be. Sertraline can cause tiredness in some people. Do you find it better to take it at night? It is usually taken in the morning - the theory goes that it affects sleep less when taken in the morning, but after taking it long-term it probably makes little difference.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your reply, I do feel i'm on the correct dose, I feel a lot better and less brain fog too.I did wonder about taking 150mg every day rather than every other? or will that be too much?

Regarding the sertraline I take it at night as the side effects are easier to manage when starting it as I have been on it before, Also I wasn't sure if it would affect my thyroxine in take if I took it in the morning?
