I have had hypothyroidism for 6yrs now and in that time I have had to have my meds raised from 125 levothyroxine to 150 because my thyroid function dropped.I had my blood test a week ago because I have been feeling lousy, aching joints ,feeling cold and forgetfulness very grumpy, all pointing to my levels having dropped.
Well today I saw my dr and was shocked to find out my thyroid results are now showing overactive this is a first. My dr wants me to go for blood tests again in 2mths.I work full time with 2 small children so I want to feel better as at the moment it is a real struggle.I have an awful time trying to sleep at night that is the only over active symtom I seem to have. The dr is not sure and I just want to feel right again.Has anyone else had this happen, any ideas or thoughts would be very appreciated, thanks .

Hi i have just been diagnosed with hyper with no symptoms whatsoever apart from feeling a lump in my throat, which is a multinodular goiter i will be having surgery for this in a few weeks, i am now taking carbimazole and have now developed some hyper symptoms palpitations feeling anxious and depressed, i now have high blood presure high colesterol reduced kidney function and diabetes after going to the dr with only a feeling of somthing stuck in my throat feeling very confused
Thanks for your answer,I hope you manage it get it sorted and you feel better after the surgery. It does comes as a shock when you are told you have a thyroid problem.I can certainly sympathise on how rough it can make you feel.
Thanks for your answer,my dr has never mentioned a test for it .My levels have always been under if they were going to change so I was puzzled.I have seen it mentioned when I have googled thyroid but I never in 6 years ever been given any real info so this site is going to be a godsend I think. It might be worth me going back and asking to be tested ,I have never been given any numbers just told either your levels are fine or they are low, think I need start asking for more info when I go.
I have been told that I am hyper and had my dose reduced (again) from 125 to 112.5 - I am very tired, no motivation, grumpy, anxious and aches - but I guess if these are caused by overdosing then maybe this will improve with the change of dose.
My T4 was not high but my TSH very low - it is this, plus fast pulse that made them say I needed to reduce dose.
Afternoon everyone :).I have my results off the dr make no sense to me at so I will post them .They are Serum TSH level 0.5 mu/L 0.35-5.50 mu/L and serum free T4 level 16.1 pmol/L 11.00-23.00 pmol/L .I have tried googling and really confused myself. So any advice be gratefully received .
