I assume you mean something like "Does anyone use Armour they have obtained without first getting a prescription?". That is, probably they have obtained it by purchasing from abroad and without medical supervision.

Is that what you mean?

Sorry should have sent this as 'reply' and not 'answer'. Jax

Rod, I have found a supplier (name/source removed as per TUK guidelines: Do not post advertisements, links or information of any sort whatsoever, on where or how to obtain UK prescription only medications without prescription.) on the net which apparently supplies Armour without prescription. The reason I asked is because I take quite a low dose ( 50 mg. Thyroxine plus an extra 25mg.once or twice a week) and I would prefer to take a natural substance rather than chemicals. I think I would need half a grain of Armour per day. Thanks, Jax

There is no exact conversion factor. However, a typical initial guess would be one grain of Armour being around 75 micrograms of levothyroxine.

So, if you continued as you now are, two-thirds of a grain a day, and one grain once or twice a week.

Do be aware:

o.. Many people end up on less or more than this conversion suggests.

o.. Not everyone gets on better with any form of desiccated thyroid than levothyroxine. Certainly some do! But some don't.

o.. Nothing is ever obvious in the world of thyroid.

I certainly hope the site you have found is genuine. Do be careful. I hope you found it after a recommendation from someone.

I am no expert on Armour and do not take it myself. Maybe others can add to this?
