Anyone aware of which Endocrinology Service is best in North Kent area?
Ill be interested in the answer as I live in the same area and have never been referred to an endocrinologist. Haven't known who to ask for either so didnt want to rock the boat too much by being referred to a rubbish endo.
I can only speak from experience but I saw Dr. R at Medway Hospital yesterday, my first appointment with an Endo for 46 years. Although the hospital is horrendously busy, I found him amenable. He listened to my concerns regarding my joint pains/fibromyalgia and did not dispute the fact that there could be a link with my thyroid condition, although he did point out there are many tests one could have regarding joint pains and it is a question of elimination. As the fibro link can be contentious I entered into the conversation with trepidation but was pleasantly surprised with his response. I asked if converting to T3 could be an issue and he promptly issued a blood test for T3, bone profile and cortisol. This is just my first step but I came away satisfied that I had been heard.
Obviously because time is limited at the appointment one needs to be well armed with the points you want to raise. Consultants are busy people and one needs to make the most of the precious minutes with them.

Of course Louise, sorry I should have realised, will remember in future.
I see Dr I at Darent Valley. He does believe in T4/T3 treatment but not in Armour or natural thyroid meds. He does listen but I had to push to get more of his time, however he is sending me for loads of tests and has promised he will do everything he can to help me get to the bottom of things and if he can't he will refer me to someone that might help further. If you've done your research or would just like to try T4/T3(he doesn't do T3 only), he might be worth a try. Good luck x

I'm very happy at Maidstone Hospital with Dr Kumar. I have been on this board for a little while and I noticed that I had exams/scans/eye tests nobody had - I have Graves. You get appointments very quickly - 2 weeks. Dr Kumar calls me after each blood test results. I live in Ashford but was told to avoid William Harvey Hospital. OK, Maidstone is not exactly North Kent but I'm very happy with my consultant and his whole team.

I left Dr Kumar and Maidstone Hospital in September of last year as I was feeling awful with Carbimazole but he wanted to push to 18 to 24 months. I went private, in London, and the private endo stopped Carbi immediately - after only 12 months. Since then, my thyroid is fine and I was declared cured a few months ago. I recommend to go private.
Hi there, I was wondering if you would be able to send me the name of the doctor you saw privately in London? In a private message if you would prefer, my mum has been to 3 nhs appointments so far but each has been with a different temporary doctor and her symptoms are getting worse. So we're looking for the best private options now.

I saw Dr Ryan at KIMS and when in remission, I was simply followed by a private GP. The price of a consultation is around £200 but the blood test are very expensive.
At the time, the private hospital in Ashford didn’t exist. I would suggest to go there.
The one I saw in London in 2013 left to France because of Brexit.
