T3 results...

Hi everyone. I just had a quick look at my latest results in the doctor's office. They wouldn't let me take a copy there and then, I've had to put the request in writing! From a quick look my t3 was at the low end of the top quarter (if that makes sense), it was 6.? but I forget the range. Stupidly though I took my t3 that morning, before the test. I am so used to taking my Levo as soon as I wake up that I just swallowed them and then it registered. Does anyone have any idea what affect taking the t3 would have on the results, i.e. how much roughly it would increase the level? My t4 was low so I know that needs increasing.

I think it would drpend on how much T3 you had taken and how long before the test. I think in your circumstances I would have rescheduled the test. Xx

I couldn't reschedule because I had an appointment with the consultant pathologist to take a whole host of labwork which included the short synacthen test :-( I have determined that T4 has 8 day half life so it shouldn't really make a difference that I took it and it is definitely too low so have increased by 25mcg. T3 should be at least 6.85 to be in the upper quarter and it is under that after taking it (which is fast acting) so I am taking a chance at increasing to 20mcg split twice daily. I will keep an eye on symptoms and see how I go. I'm going to start the circadian method of T3 from tomorrow to see if it helps out the adrenals.

Mmmm... I'm thinking so too. I only take 10mcg but I take it as soon as I open my eyes and my blood test was taken at 9am. I think I will have to dig deep into my own pocket though as I'd had a test 2 weeks before (tsh,t4,t3) and I took the tablets then! Had a whole host of lab work I wanted done, presented it to the endo who agreed (I thought xmas had come early!) plus I asked for a thyroid re-test because I'd taken my meds... Then I did it again!!! That's what happens when you get into too much of a routine.

Put a reminder on mobile and remove the tablets from your bedside table the night before. It is too important and you want the most accurate results.
