Lymphatic drainage massage and hashimotos

Does anyone know if this kind of massage is helpful with Hashimotos or possibly a hindrance? My sister has bought me massage for my birthday and the practitioner is concerned about stimulating my immune system. I'm asking you guys because my GP won't have a clue:)

Hi Janiebell, I'd be interested in the answer to this too. I also have hashi's and wondered about having massages? xx

Hi there, I think massage is fantastic fr stress and wouldn't hesitate to have a relaxing massage but lymphatic drainage boosts the immune system and I want to knw if that will accelerate a hashi autoimmune response. I can't find the answer anywhere!!!! I think I might just go for it. Xx

Hi, yes me too. I used to have a massage once a month and loved them. Saying that, I often came out with cold symptoms the day after and have heard that it's not a good idea with Hashis, but can't remember where from!

I also used to have a facial but since being diagnosed, haven't had these either as I find it uncomfortable having my neck area massaged (or it could all be in my mind?) xx

I recently skimmed over an article that said lymph drainage is yet another obstruction caused by hypothyroidism and rather sounded like it would be a helpful therapy.

Just spoken to my consultant who rather poo pooed that lymphatic drainage could do any harm. He also said it wouldn't help!! I'm going to go ahead and i will report back on how I feel. I have had massages many times before and felt wonderful but I have also had what I've always described as healing crisis, ie feeling crap before I felt better. Fingers crossed for the former!!!!

I think I read somewhere that it's good to have a gentle lymphatic drainage to help get rid of any toxins. I tried a few. There seems to be different techniques. The first one I had just used small circular pressure on certain points which was quite boring. The second one used long sort of strokes and slowed down, at certain joints. I had three or four half hour sessions over 2 weeks. I particularly enjoyed the last one. Felt good after the last one and had no side effects. I think it will be different for each person. Good luck. Hope you enjoy it :) PS I have Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism.

Thank you for your feed back. I too have both ailments and am A Licensened Esthetician. The positive results far out way the negative when the massage is 1) kept simple 2) done with regularity. 😊
