Is this something my GP can do? Can anyone help as I have been quite poorly.
I have Graves Disease/Hyperthyroid I have never... - Thyroid UK
I have Graves Disease/Hyperthyroid I have never or been advised to have my vitamin levels checked.
My GP carried this out for me as a follow up but only because my Endo had diagnosed it through tests carried out at the hospital. My GP suggested over the counter vit s supplement (my level was 26 - normal range is >50) but in next appt with Endo he prescribed a supplement for me - 20,000 units to be taken weekly.
Your GP will be able to carry this out for you if you ask. My results from Endo took about 1-2 weeks yet GP said 6!!! Good luck!!!
Hi If you see a good Endo, the first tests they do include, Vit D, B12 + Foliates, diabetes and iron/ Ferritin If having treatment for D ,essential to fist have a test for corrected calcium as D can cause it to rise, over range is dangerous. Repeat both after 3 months and then occasionally.. All hormonal and autoimmune. re thyroid, make sure you have had tSH, T4 and Free T3 tested for the correct treatment. if hospital tests, phone secretary for results + essential ranges, if Gp ask receptionist, routine, keep them
Best wishes,
Jackie
