There are many, many posts (blogs and questions) here. With lots of discussion.

It is a difficult, controversial subject with people on both sides of the fence totally disagreeing with each other.

I have a cautious view and believe that it is far and away best to have a urinary iodine test before even trying it. At the same time, I do not attempt to avoid normal amounts in my diet such as in fish, in some products made with iodised salt, dairy products, etc.

thanks what sort of test and where can I get it tested too? I've been thinking in getting this tested as I seen that lack of iodine can cause nodules and palpatations, so maybe it is worth adding this test to my list? x

Various private tests are available by following the link below - then looking at each of the companies:

If you are at all unsure, simply ring the companies and ask. I think you want the urinary iodine test - not blood. That is what is used to assess whether or not you have enough iodine in your diet/body.

Do double-check that it will inform you of your iodine status.

may i inject- taking the correct urine iodine test is key ! must be the 24hr. iodine loading urine test--you take a iodine pill then the results show how much iodine is excreted in the urine--the more that is excreted the less iodine you need-conversely the less that is excreted in other words the more your body holds onto-means you needed iodine and one is defcient, there is a ratio see dr.brownstein or others to find that ratio, endo who would do that test would know the ratios-finding that endo is like finding hens teeth.. if one was iodine deficient dr .brownsteins or others/ books are the authority on iodine-with reference by many other authority's dr.peat etc.etc.one can see on you tube loads of his videos--i had a 24 iodine urine test and was told yes you are deficient -HOWEVER this only represents the last few days, "don't worry... well the last few days is THE exact diet i have been eating for the last five years--thus i have been deficient all that time, that 24hr test is NOT the best test, one needs the 24 hr. urine iodine loading test, where one is given iodine/iodide tablet then pee for 24hr. that tells the true picture of one's deficiency-- i currently take Iodoral 12.5mg iodine/iodide-note that is (milligrams) not (micro-grams), as in kelp bladderwack etc. & i trust Iodoral tablets- as the lugols liquid is suspect by who is making it up ,it's purity, their hygiene their integrity etc. the pill form Iodoral is consistent, regulated more strictly--i feel loads better have way more energy and my body feels it needs it -will continue till i finally get to see endo & some treatment hopefully ndt or at least t3. by the way BE prepared to detox of the nasties in ones body, see dr. brownstein ) & others, but it passes and iodine is doing it's job..also note iodines relationship to cancer --of the breast prostrate etc.etc. again dr.b or dr.bob or dr.peat, stop the thyroid madness is excellent and their websites... hope this helps someone anyone.... sky
