Hi You may suddenly also need T3, along with the T4 ( levo) not unusual.Or more T4 Make sure you have had a new TSH, T4 and Free T3 test with ranges, ask receptionist for a copy.Thyroid disease often gets worse with age or body stops converting T4 into enough FT3.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Something that goes along with hypothyroidism, especially autoimmune forms, is low vitamin B12.

Our livers can store a large amount. So, if absorption from diet reduces, it takes a long time before the actual availability drops to a low level. And the symptoms can have a lot of similarity with hypothyroidism. When I write "long time", that can be quite a number of years, especially if you are till absorbing some - but not quite enough.

I suggest you ask to be tested. Or, if that is unlikely to happen, simply start taking methylcobalamin (available in many forms) - maybe try 1000 mcg to begin with? But once you start, then B12 tests can be rather misleading.

Not recently lost weight have you? I read somewhere. (I wish I could find it again). That wight loss can result in t4 / t3 conversion not working.

I did brilliantly with t4 only for about 12 years, then lost 3 stones and now need to take t3.

Can't offer any help but the same thing is happening to me. Night sweats are horrendous, pain in my legs is unbearable and I seem to be getting one cold or virus after another. Been on 120 mg of thyroxine for years. Not sure what to do now
