S.I.B.O test ?

Just home from hospital. Went 1 hour drive through London Hair raising!! In morning when at my worst and afraid I will be caught short. Ment to have S.I.B.O breath test. SO HARD I could not do it. I was going dizzy and nurse said I was going red on the face. She said she could not get a base line and figures all over the place. No point in carrying on. What a waste of time and effort. Then cost £7 to park. In spaces that must have been designed for dinky toys!!

How frustrating. Are you going to try and get a later appointment?

They only do mornings. That was the latest they would do. No point trying again, as I can't blow hard enough.

Can you not do the test due to anxiety or is it due to a health condition? There are home test kits but they are quite expensive and a bit tricky to do. I think you have to do a SIBO in the morning I think to get a good result. I am the same as you I always try and book afternoon appt. as mornings can be bad for me too.

What a sad day for you. Hope you get the test done properly next time. Best wishes to a fellow sufferer

I don't think there will be a next time. Try as I might I simply could not move the dial at all.

I had a small bowel bacterial overgrowth. My bowel was like a fermentation chamber. Distension, huge volume of constant gas, cramping , d . Gross. Endoscopy, colonoscopy, proved negative. My GP said let's try antibiotics. It could make it worse, but give it a try and if worse stop taking them. She said no point in having a hydrogen breath test. It is far from accurate and you would find it unpleasant. I think, if I remember correctly, you have to drink something first, which will increase the fermentation. She said no point in putting you through that. Do ask for antibiotics. Be persist. It was a miracle cure for me. It will zap bad and good bacteria. Once baddies are gone , with a nutritious diet you can build up good again.
