Hi. Just wondering if anyone has experienced trembling (mainly in the legs) about 30 minutes or so after eating a meal? This has happened a few times to me, the worst one this evening, after my evening meal. I suddenly went all shivery & shaky. It did wear off after about 30 minutes. It really makes me anxious 🥹

I do suffer with diverticulosis & digestive problems.

Hi, I hope you're feeling okay. I am certainly not an expert but a bit of Googling suggests that this could possibly be related to blood sugar levels or medications. if this is an ongoing problem then it's probably best that you speak to your GP.

Thanks for your reply. I have had full blood count tests done & nothing has flagged up there. I need to go back I think.

Best wishes

I’m just wondering what you are having to drink at that time. I can’t tolerate quinine so can only drink water apart from tea and coffee. Quinine is classed as a flavouring and although is present in lots of foods and drinks it doesn’t have to be specified. It gives me a tremor. I used always to drink Tesco sugar free squash before I found out that quinine is the trigger. Now I can tell almost instantly if something I’m eating or drinking has been flavoured with the stuff. Doctors dismissed it as ‘a benign tremor that people get sometimes’.

interesting - I do like a G&T. I will monitor what happens next time I have tonic water. Thanks for your reply.

Best wishes.

The last few weeks I have been having them symptoms. Where I’ll stand up and my legs will feel dead and like they have a life of their own. It’s a weird sensation which is hard to describe. Hope yours are easing off now. And good luck

Yes, I have had trembling sensations which are not anxiety related but felt physical somehow. If ever I tried to describe them, everyone's first thought was "anxiety", and they didn't seem to understand what I meant.

Now, with me, this started before I knew I had IBS. That was suddenly in March 2018 when out of the blue one ordinary afternoon, I got a handful of unusual symptoms, and that was one of them.

4 weeks later, I got an upset gut for no reason, which lasted 8 or 9 days then my gut felt normal again.

The array of symptoms continued theough 2018 and 2019, and I believed they were neurological.

I saw a neurologist, and all tests were "normal" including a CT scan.

I believe MS and/or a possible minor stroke were suspected, but eliminated by the normal results.

I also had what are called "scintillating scotoma" which are indicative of a migraine condition, and so the neurologist concluded that was the key, and my condition was an atypical migraine phenomenon.

My tummy was quiet at that time.

Fast forward to March 2020 when the gut just flipped, and I have had what was diagnosed as IBS since.

My legs go like jelly sometimes. I literally have to go right down on the ground or floor of wherever I am, in any weather, and just wait for a few minutes, or I cannot walk at all. In about 3 minutes I'm fine and can carry on. And before a bowel movement in the morning I sometimes get a weird numb feeling which goes down my left thigh. It immediately disappears after a bm.

The trembling is rarer now, but sometimes I feel it slightly but it passes. It reminds me of a physical reaction to way too much caffeine, when I have not had "too much caffeine"

Thanks for your reply. Very interesting. I am worried it could be neurological. I have started with numb/aching & tingling in legs, especially when I’ve been in bed for the night. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow.

Best wishes 🤗
