Hi i once tried turmeric and it basically gave me a burning sensation in my stomach so stayed clear of it. This of course does not mean it will happen to you. Personally though you would want to steer clear of anything that may irritate .

Hi,

I’m fine with it. I take it after my main meal of the day as it’s fat soluble and needs fat to be absorbed properly. Start with a low dose maybe.

hi, I’ve never been diagnosed with diverticulitis but have had many of the symptoms over the past 3 years, I’m currently going through a decent period where I’ve felt good most days. This has only been for just over 3 weeks but it’s the best period for over 2 years. I’ve been taking Symprove every morning which I think really helps. I also make a drink of guava juice, coconut water, ginger and turmeric. I have a shot of it every afternoon. It doesn’t taste particularly nice but I think it’s helping.

My advice is to take Turmeric as a one- off thing. You could take it with a meal once a day for 2 days then stop, it just reduces inflammation but could worsen the irritation you have in the gut.

I use a lot of it in cooking and I think it helps more than just the diverticulitis, it helps with the joints as well

I read that it is an antinflamation so started adding it to my cooking a couple of days a week. Can't say I have noticed zany difference, after about 6 months now. I thought it could help gut inflammation but someone hear said it made their gut burn. I have felt that too, so am now confused and will stop it for a while and see. As I didn't use mutch anyway.

I don't mean to give anyone "medical advice" here as I'm not a doctor. Neither am I a qualified herbalist.

But I have always found herbs such as Slippery Elm, Marshmallow Root, and Gentian to be soothing for the gut if ever I felt anything inflamed or sore. They will also affect lower down in the gut such as the colon and their benefits aren't destroyed in the digestive process.

But please if anyone wishes to try those, do research and check first that they are safe for you, and safe if you are on any other medication.

Have a look at Slippery Elm. Several papers mention its anti-inflammatory properties. I have BAM and take one capsule before my main meal and loperamide as needed. Best I’ve been for years.
