I had a bad bout last night .... sore back and sore across abdomen. Could not get comfortable in bed .. lying on my back made me feel nauseous. Most comfortable position was onside/front. I then got leg cramps ! (coincidental I'm sure) I haven't managed to identify a food trigger (last night's dinner was macaroni cheese). Fed up feeling like this .. and always tired!
I used to get bouts every month or so but they seem to be more often now. More IBS C .. no diarrhoea. I may try mebeverine again....

I've got ibs and a few years I also realised I was lactose intolerant... So I made sure any dairy I took from then on was lactose free... You might consider looking into it if you had a bad night after eating macaroni cheese. It's just a thought.
If you try it look into it online as some dairy stuff is OK and some isn't.
Thank you. I don't actually eat much dairy ... but I do eat cheese. Hadn't really considered it before. My IBS only started 2 years ago just manifest out of the blue ....
I had a coelic test done and it was clear .. so hadn't really considered gluten. I will consider this and take note of what I am eating with gluten ... I already note what I have eaten before flare ups and haven't so far found a link. I have tried the FODMAP but as a vegetarian found it very restrictive.
I'm veggie too and I agree it's quite challenging, I use tofu, eggs and nut butters. I can usually stretch it for 6 weeks before reintroducing foods. It is worth it, I couldn't find any triggers until I completed it. Good luck
Mebeverine may be counterproductive to IBS-C since it reduces muscle spasms which are needed to move food along.
In order to identify food triggers, you'll need to keep a food diary and only change one thing at a time and monitor for symptoms 2-4 days afterwards. You can get a GP referral for a dietitian for the FODMAP elimination and reintroduction diet, but I would try the probiotic mentioned in the above post first, since it may make you more tolerant to different foods and fibre.
I wouldn’t take Mebeverine for constipation as it will only make it worse. I have IBS-C and a flare for me is when it suddenly turns to D and that was what I was prescribed Mebeverine for, to stop the cramping spasms and Colpermin to calm the intestines. Better to try Movicol.
I've found Laxido helps with constipation. How long for I don't know. Also have gluten free bread cost a lot but I don't eat a lot just toast and a sandwich. Occasionally when it's abadfkare up I have buscapan, not for too long though as it slows everything down. Best wishes
Pasta too? Gosh ... so many possibilities ... I will need to more closely monitor my foods. I have heard it can be cumulative too ... so sometimes foods not causing a not cause a flare up, but then doing so .
... so complicated to work out the triggers!
I've not heard of the BROT/BRAT diet .. will have a look.
My monthly cycle triggered my ibs for years. I didn't realize it because my cycle wasn't a consistent number of days. The hormonal fluctuations wreaked havic.
