I'm mid flare up at the moment, despite my best efforts at eating a good diet. Last night the cramps, discomfort and Diarrhoea were beyond the norm. I wound up sitting in the living room at just before 3am having a cup of tea and a snack (Gluten, lactose and sugar free). Today I feel like I've done ten rounds with Ali, King Kong and Godzilla in a 3 on 1 tag team match! 😖 I've taken Loperamide based meds on top of the pain meds and still feel rough. I wondered if my flare up had started because of my stress while waiting for my Mammogram results. They were clear, thankfully, but I'm still in with the horrors. I'm at a loss now as to how I can get through this, I'm usually fairly upbeat but this has knocked me about too much. Guess I'll just have to ride it out, keep up with the meds and hope for a swift resolution. Sorry for the whinge. 🤗

Fed up, sore and weary.
Hi Liz-d sorry to hear your ibs has been so bad. I am just recovering from a nasty bout and found buscopan tablets helped with the cramps (wonderful little tablets) They were from the gp but you can buy over the counter. I was on two, four times a day. But trying to cut down at the moment.
Also i use germaloides cream when i get sore after a lot of ibs-d. It has a pain killer so is very soothing.
Hope this helps.
Liz-D, I’m convinced stress is a factor - and even when I don’t believe I am stressed! Certainly it seems to take quite a while AFTER a stressful event to get through the effects and that does make sense to me. Be very kind to yourself and reassure yourself.
Glad your results were clear. If you think it is stress related, you could try the Nerva gut directed hypnotherapy app or free guided meditations online. If it is possible to get out, walks in nature or any form of exercise can help bring the stress levels down.
A flare up can certainly make you feel really rough. The energy it takes to deal with the pain etc just totally zaps your energy. I think all we can do is give ourselves some T.L.C. Drink plenty of fluids, eat small amounts and rest.
Stress can affect me after a stressful situation, maybe we relax the gut muscles.
Take care of yourself and I hope you feel a bit better soon.
