I started taking Ferrocalm about 18 weeks ago and suffered adjustment symptoms from day 1 which still persist. I have had severe intractable iBS-C for 10 years which has not responded to all allopathic treatments including Amitriptyline which didn’t work at 100mg at night! I was fully investigated including colonoscopy which revealed IBS confined to the sigmoid colon. No response to low FODMAP’s diet, but sensitive to the usual gluten and dairy products. I’m not an anxious type , and my symptoms are sharp when voiding my bladder, associated with its closeness to the sigmoid colon. I was also cystoscoped at the time, and there is no suggestion of interstial cystitis.

There are no features to suggest IBD or colonic cancer.

Has anyone who has tried Ferrocalm suffered the same prolonged adjustment symptoms, or with a reputable probiotic, similar prolonged side-effects ? My symptoms include worsening pain, bloating, loose stool, and also associated symptoms of the Jarisch-Herheimer reaction- headache, joint pains, skin rashes, bloating and loose stool.

I had little success with Symprove, VSL3# and Alflorex.
