Sorry to hear that you are suffering as IBS is a little bit annoying.. the mst important thing is not to be stressed, try to take work easy because it affects your health as you can see so nothing is worth your health even work. Regarding food keep a note of any food you eat that does or does not work for you, that is the right wayb to know what to eat and avoid.
Love your cat in your picture.! So sorry that you are feeling low, it's understandable. As someone else said, do try not to let anxiety build up, it's the worst thing for IBS and Ulcers. Take some regular exercise, walking is brilliant but you find something you like doing. Get plenty of fresh air and try to keep clear of processed foods, takeaways, etc. Try to eat as healthy as possible eliminating one food at a time to see if it helps. Try some Probiotics, Flaxseed, Porridge, Seeds, Nuts, see what you can tolerate. Fresh Fruit, Vegetables, It's all trial and error I'm afraid and does take time. It's not easy by any means but with time and experimenting, you will be able to manage your IBS. the main thing is to keep anxiety to a minimum.
I have the same problem. I thought my ulcer has been healed. But now I have pain again. I don’t know what to eat. I am so bloated. Just soup and bread seem to be ok
That's a tough one. There are some foods that are a definite no-no e.g. corn on the cob, Coleslaw -with onions (my wife does coleslaw without onions and it's tasty, nutritious and safe) cheesecake and battered fish. I avoid red meat and won't touch legumes/pulses. But otherwise I have to eat and with a lot of stuff the reaction is random so not linked to it. I find KFC always works for me (avoid those sides) as do chip shop chips with anything except the fish! Just eat what you can and follow misspomfrey advice.
I'd say just keep your food very simple and plain, Foods like mashed potatoes, rice (if you incline to constipation do a small amount of brown rice which takes about 35 minutes to cook, then 15 minutes before the end, add a bit of easy cook white rice)
You could have eggs, fish, light meats such as chicken. Not too much fat but a bit of butter or olive oil might be OK. And veggies. I find spinach, green beans, pak choi, very easy on my tummy, Carrots I find a bit laxative for some reason, but not everyone does.
I found the lower fibre foods generally easier on my tummy but I do some fibre (i.e. veggies) Cous cous is another option if you get fed up with rice and potatoes. Quinoa is nice but is higher fibre. I can eat toast, I'm not gluten sensitive, and I find white ciabatta easier on my gut than wholemeal or grain bread right now at least. That's lovely toasted with a couple of soft boiled eggs on top and some spinach.
I used to eat a lot of high fibre foods, and when I first got IBS I felt lost. I didn't know what to eat! Only when I cooled it with fibre and ate simple cooked foods. cut out seasonings except for salt, that my tummy eased a lot.
The above should be okay for your stomach ulcer too.
Stay away from pickles, alcohol, spices, pepper, and high roughage foods and see what happens. Hope that helps a bit?
I feel for you! I've realised most of my IBS is caused by stress but - what can you do? I'm reduced to eating wholemeal crackers, toast, butter and marmalade (thank goodness I don't react badly to that! At least I can eat something nice, even though it's not the healthiest), porridge, wholemeal buns, tomatoes and ham, and the occasional banana. That's been it, for months. No, it's not healthy, but it keeps my IBS at bay, and honestly, considering the pain I go through otherwise, right now I don't care. I'm actually scared of food at this point - which I bet you are too! Even a small amount of vegetables has me in agony for at least a week. With respect to people who say 'try not to get stressed' - and they are absolutely right, because it kicks the IBS off straight away - it's just not that easy when you have a high stress job. The ulcer must feel like the final insult, which ramps up your stress even more.
All I can say is you have my deepest sympathy, I wish I could offer suggestions other than - I've ignored the 'eat fresh fruit and veg and etc' and tried for whatever reduced the symptoms and pain as much as possible. Yes, bland food, but the difference in my life and outlook now I'm not in so much pain is astonishing. I'm looking into healthier options, of course - my diet is terrible, I know that - but it's easier to try to figure out the next steps without my food diary filled with comments like 'pain, pain, pain, today is awful'.
Have they offered you any help with the ulcer issue? I'm sure it'll help once that's sorted out.
I wish you all the best, and hope you can get some kind of break so you can think more clearly, and get on the road to - not necessarily 'recovery' because it's IBS - but a healthier, more balanced state.
