Hi there, just wondered if anyone has had any experience on how the contraceptive pill has or has not had an impact on their IBS at all? Thanks in advance!

IBS and contraceptive pill
Hi, I started taking the contraceptive pill when I was 17 and didn't get IBS until I was about 27, around the time that my first husband told me he didn't think he wanted to be married to me anymore. That is how my IBS started and it has never gone away and has just got worse and worse over the years. So no, I don't think it was taking the contraceptive pill but more down to picking the wrong guy! I made a better choice second time around but unfortunately my second husband has had a lot to put up with due to my IBS.
Hello Mwn72 sorry I just read your post when I was on the pill many years ago I was told ( that when I was 16 years old now 62/63 years old ) that any tummy bug could upset it so if you can try and use other forms of protection if possible unless you want another baby !!!!! just to be on the safe side ok does that help but the way I am with Diverticular Disease sex is the last thing on my mind (I wish!!!) as I am in chronic tummy pain with it does that help???

Thanks for your reply! Yes that is true something to think about. I'm more interested in it to regulate my cycle as my IBS worsens around my period each month. Totally understand how you feel on this though! 🤦🏼♀️
