Have any of you had a ganglion impar block injection? My IBS can't be controlled by the usual medicine including amitriptyline, Pregabalin or Gabapentin. Morphine as pain relief doesn't work either so the pain management Dr is suggesting these injections. If you have had them how did you get on with them?
Many thanks

I have never heard of it for IBS as it’s usually used to treat chronic lower back, pelvic and rectum pain. What are your IBS symptoms? Do you have regular bowel movements? Where is the pain? Sorry I’m just trying to understand why the nerve block in that area would help IBS?
Hi MyStar86Thanks for replying. Im literally in agony in my lower stomach and rectum all day every day. I have bowel movements every day ( take laxido daily and a high fibre diet) Butec patches, morphine, anti depressants haven't helped at all so the pain Dr suggested these injections. I am so depressed as I have no quality of life. Thanks
I really hope that they help you and it does say they help rectum pain so fingers crossed they really help. Keep us updated how you get on. Nerve blocks are usually used when chronic pain doesn’t respond to drugs so it sounds like this is the next option for you. I’ve only had an intercostal nerve block before when I broke all my ribs on both sides but it didn’t help me xx
How much amitriptyline were/are you on. I was on 10mg and after awhile my symptoms got worse. So it was upped to 20mg for two weeks. that made things better but not perfect. I'm now back to 10mg.
