My mum has been brave enough to take buscopan...the first tablet she took, helped her cramps. She's been taking just one tablet if she gets cramps, but that's not really helping now.On the prescription she got, it said to take 2 tablets, 3-4 times a day.
So....during a flare up...should you take them regularly or as and when needed?
Would taking them 3 or 4 times a day keep things under control?
Know I could ask a pharmacist, but as it's Sunday, thought I'd ask here
Many thanks

hi Bflying, I was recently prescribed Buscopan one tablet, three times a day.
I take one now and again which helps a bit, but I found if I took the tablets as prescribed, I got constipated. So I don’t take them regularly. Your mum is likely to experience different results as we are all so different in our IBS symptoms
Like your mum, I am not sure how helpful they are or how regularly to take them.
We're all different and your mum will work out what dosage helps. I tend to take two three times a day when I get a flare up to head it off at the pass and then taper it down if the symptoms ease. If she has IBSC then she might need to take a laxative as well. I've started taking some stuff from Holland and Barrett in the last few days as I prefer natural remedies and so far so good but it'll be different for everyone. It's about learning what triggers a flare up (stress, different foods, drinks etc etc) and how much medication is needed to manage it. It's a learning curve for us all I think. I wish her luck and hope she feels better soon.
